Hi, I am set to graduate from my LPN program the end of June. This last semester started last week. The instructor was saying that the dean is going to start tallying all our lecture hours and those who have missed a lot will not be allowed to graduate, and thus we will only be allowed 2 absences this last semester. I have missed no clinicals all year, but a few class days, and I am worried that I won't be able to graduate. I dont want to ask the dean and draw attention to myself...some other girls in my class were worried too and asked the instructor. She said that if we have not been spoken to yet about attendance that we shouldnt worry, people usually get a written warning or something. But she is not the dean, so I dont kno if what she said is correct. I cannot afford to not pass, and my grades are great (A-/B+) and I love nursing...I am so freaking out here. Anyone have a similar situation or any advice would be great.

In my school, our teacher told us that we are not required to attend classes as long as we pass our exams. But we do have to attend all clinicals. I think its bogus that they will fail you based on your attendance. After all you do pay tuition to go there! Your grades should be the deciding factor on whether you pass or not. Good luck to you and your fellow classmates.

Specializes in EMS~ ALS.../...Bartending ~ Psych :).

Our class is M-F 8-3 Aug to Aug..........

We are allowed 70 hours of absent time for the year!

We do have a few that are pushing it, but all in all we have all been able to attend class and still not have to miss important appointments, events or phone calls.......

I would think that you will be fine
