Wow, its hard to believe we are down to the last 5 weeks of the first semester in my program. Two to go! Time has really flown by, I hope the next two semesters pass as quickly.

We have SC & IM injection skills check-offs on Monday and we are all shaking in our shoes!

We start our hospital clinicals on Tuesday morning and have been told we will jump right in with patient care, with a focus being placed on giving meds and injections. I got placed on a floor described as "a very, very crazy-busy floor filled to the max with end stage cancer and hospice patients, many with multiple serious issues." YIKES!!!!! I'm getting a bit nervous now & definately not looking forward to getting up at 4am, I'm soooo not a morning person!

I'll be locked up in my bedroom with my books all weekend going over everything we've learned so far.

How is everyone else doing? Are you enjoying your programs?

welcome to allnurses.com! glad you found the site.

i am also a "non-morning person". just can't do them for some reason. when you can, drop by the hospice forum at: https://allnurses.com/forums/f25/ .

My program is on the quarter system. Just finished the first quarter with straight A's - made the Presidents List. :)

We have been doing clinicals all along, though. Primarily focused on ADLs, meds and calculations, as well as assessments and the nursing process. We have also spent alot of time reading charts and lab reports, practicing on charting/nurses notes, and taking off written and telephone orders.

We start 2nd quarter on 5 April; 1st three days will consist of phlebotomy and IV starting skills. As a former EMT, I am not worried about this at all. We have already had injections lab. We will start med pass clinicals on 10 April.

I am finishing up my first semester, which has not been as exciting as yours! We have been in the classroom for the past 8 weeks doing Nursing Fundementals, Maternity and A&P. I have my Maternity final tonight. :)

My 2nd semester will be a bit more exciting, with clinicals. I will also start Nutrition and add another night of fundementals.

I am in an evening program, so I won't have to get up at 4 a.m. (thank goodness). Good luck with starting clinicals. I am sure you are going to do fantastic on the crazy busy floor...by the looks of your handle, I am sure it will be a piece of cake!

we already finished our first quarter...we are on 10 wk quarters...and we started clinicals week 5 of classes, we go to clinicals mon and tue EVERY week until we graduate!

our grading system kinda stinks cause all of our grade is based solely on the final test you take each quarter and we are required to pass with an 80 or above! (we do get two times to take it though) luckily i passed the first time around...thank goodness! lol

Second quarter starts April 10th with IV certification stuff so we'll see how that goes, i'm honestly ready to get back into the daily grind of school, i've had 2 weeks off and i'm ready to go back and get done!

good luck everyone, and enjoy second quarter/semester!

Well...good to hear from y'all!

Well, today went and bought my clinical uniform - do they purposely try and find the ugliest uniform? UGH, hated forking over almost $50.00 for something that ugly!

I just finished my SC & IM injection skills evaluation - phew!!! What a load off of my mind. A few of us were in the hallway waiting to be called to go in and I swear we were all green with nervousness. My evaluator said I did "absolutely wonderfully." So glad its over. I hate how stressed we all get about these things, but then when its finished and you did well....I love the feeling afterward! Whoo hoo.....I did it! Sure gives ya motivation/inspiration to go on to tackle the next thing.

Speaking of....tomorrow I start hospital clinicals. And my first injections on real live people!!! Yikes!

Early to bed for me tonight. I get *serious* insomnia the night before big things like these.....even if I'm confident and dont have much to be worried about, my brain just still wont shut off so I can sleep. So, I'll be taking a benedryl tonight at about 7:30pm....cause 4am is gonna come around much too early.

Anyhow, I guess I'm chatty today.....have a great day/night!

i know this must be last year but i just got accepted for this september to boces lpn program. i would love to hear more about how things went.

Well, I am starting my first day of intro class on Monday, and then on the 25th is our first full day. I am nervous because I just have bad stomach issues and having had bile duct surgery last year, I get all messed up, and not sure how my body will react to being in school full time!!! YIKES!! SO NOT A MORNING PERSON!!

I better take a sleeping aid tomorrow night, sominex or something!! And lots of Starbucks on the way to school!!

At least our 1st week (intro class....no idea what we do in that) is only 1/2 days. Then full days for a year starting the following Monday, yuck!

Thanks for all the support, and good luck and God Bless all of you who are starting back or to the beginning of your classes.

:)
