New job!

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello all. I am a new grad in upstate NY. I just got my first LPN job in a surgical clinic. :nailbiting::) I am specifically with the urology team where they do everything under conscious sedation, no general at all. They told me a lot of it is catheters, post void residual scans, vasectomies and more of the like. My questions is, do you think it would be advisable to bring a notepad with me to write things down in? I have a 2 day new hire orientation and then a 4 day nursing orientation. Then I have a preceptor for 12 weeks! I'm thinking it's a good idea. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Wouldn't hurt. I carried a notebook around for a week or two when I was hired in the ED. I eventually threw it away b/c I never referred back to it. However, I think just writing stuff down made me feel more comfortable.

I have always carried a notebook with me during orientation. I have been made fun of for it. I don't care. While there is no such thing as a stupid question, it is stupid to ask the same question more than once.
