I don't know. I'm currently in the 90 Day Review with a place and yet. I feel that these people are using me up like I'm just a body.

For instance: This place would call me up all the time to pickup the OT or would force me into a double after I tell them that I can't when I have my kids on a certain day. And it is ridiculous when they schedule me for it a week before I tell them that I can't do it.

Then, I don't feel like I've been trained well enough since I'm still learning their computer systems. I'm telling the supervisor herself this since I had no idea about certain aspects of the computer system itself. I thought it was ridiculous also.

I'm also a new grad and I'm six weeks into this place and I have approximately 40 patients to myself as a new nurse on third shift and sometimes it does get hectic when I'm on my feet all the time and alot of the responsibilities of alot of things occur on night shift. And sometimes CNAs aren't doing what they're supposed to do. But, alot of my time is spent running around doing other patient stuff whether it would be charting, med pass, treatments and so on. And this place is low manned as it is when it comes down to it.

So I guess I'm looking for some advice and looking for some support and maybe help with a choice.

I can't tell you what's good for you or your life.

I wouldn't quit. I'm a big fan of teaching people how to treat me. I would do that with the staffing coordinator.

It's hard to say what is good for you, I agree with the first person responding.....you might find that half of the places you go to work are like this. A lot of places are short staffed. A lot of places will put a lot on you. You have to decide what the pros and cons are.

All LTC are the same they are all top heavy and creates division. Management style is keep each other against and demeaning each other. Result they can work short and have an excuse to do so. Each have to choose for them self what type of atmosphere they choose to work in. The injury to nurses are increasing. Physically, mentally, and spiritually. Lawyers need to start looking at nurse abuse. Until someone starts the change of nurse treatment it will only get worse. This is not one location. Needs to be addressed nationally. Until then the graduates will continue to leave the industry. People do not enjoy being abused that includes nurses.
