Charity School of Nursing, Application

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what we were supposed to turn in for our application to Charity. I've found a few different pages that say different things. Some say that you need to mail in the application before any TEAS score and transcrips go in, and some say that you can put it all together in a packet.

I was reading through the requirements again, and I came across this:

e. ACT scores no more than 3 years old are required for a certificate/degree seeking student who graduated from high school or received a GED and is 24 years or younger.

does this mean that If we have been in college since we graduated high school that this does not apply? I'm from the east coast and took the SAT 4 years ago. I don't know how I'm just noticing this now, but I'm more than a little worried about it...

Also, I was wondering how we go about submitting the TEAS test scores. Do we need to log into a website somewhere and pay a fee for someone else to send them directly, or does Delgado send the scores themselves? Or do we just print them off ourselves and put them in a packet, and they don't need any sort of official copy?

If you know the answers to even one of these questions I would really appreciate your help. I'm having a horrible time getting anyone on the phone or getting replies to any emails.

Thanks in advance for any help you might have :D

Hey,

I am applying to Charity for the Fall 2010. I am actually working on the application package right now. If you access the www.dcc.edu website and click on the nursing section you will find all the information you need. Go to Prospective Students and you will find a link to the "Information Bulletin".

It says you have to turn in the following:

1. Charity School of Nursing Application (which by the way, I was told today by the Charity admissions coordinator, has to be typed. Also, go to Prospective Students and find the application link. It lets you fill in the blanks and print it out, But you cannot save it to your computer so print an extra copy for yourself just in case)

2. All official transcripts except Delgado's. Have any other sent to you and include them in the package

3. Copy of TEAS score (70% or higher). I take mine on the 23rd of this month! So nervous!

4. High school transcript of documentation of GED. This is to be submitted ONLY if applicant has never attended any regionally accredited college or university.

It states that all information must be turned in at the same time.

Hope this helps. Good luck

Also,

If you need any help contact the admissions coordinator at Charity. She is very sweet and always answers any emails about concerns I have.

In regards to how Charity gets your official TEAS score. Before you take the test, you put what school you want the scores sent to. The testing people of Deglado will send Charity a copy. However, before you take the TEAS you will make a username and p/w. Then you go online, sign in, and print your results to send in with your packet as well. Hope this helps! I start in January at Charity, I also find the admissions coordinator to be very helpful!

Sincerely,

gentle tos reminder:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

I am taking the TEAS this Wednesday 9/23. I am so nervous and ready to get it over with. Can you please honestly say if you found it hard. I am hoping to pass it at least with a 70 but would be so happy if I got over an 80. I have been studying for it but I am still quite nervous about it.

So by next week I will know if I will continue my studies for a nursing career. If I don't pass, this will be my last semester at Delgado :(

I personally thought it was difficult. However, I bought the book but didn't study it as hard as I should have. And once I took the test, I was like...If I had studied that book harder, I would have done so much better. So, if you are studying the TEAS book, you will do fine! Dont be nervous! And you do know you can take it twice, right? So you could try again if you don't pass, but Im sure you will. Even if you get a 70.5, take it and run!! But remember, if you pass and decide to take it again, they will take the 2nd grade. NOT the better of the two. You will do fine! GOODLUCK!!

I have been reading some posts and now I am really really nervous because I did not study for the TEAS using the $30 book everyone mentions. I bought the Kaplan study book and printed out the ati website practice tests. I have done them all but feel scared crazy about not passing it.

I have heard some people say its a breeze and some others say it is difficult. All I know is that I want to pass so badly to at least be able to apply to Charity....wether I will ever get accepted...I doubt it but I want to try. I know, its bad! I am so pesimistic but I'd rather be surprised than get my hopes high of becoming a nurse one day.

Yes, while its true that you can take it twice at Delgado, I don't think I would take it again. After Wednesday, I will pretty much know if I will continue my nursing path. If I don't pass the TEAS, thats it for me.

Oh God please pray for me that I do pass it. I will take a 70% and run with it....

This is so upsetting, I have been sick to my stomach the past two days. Maybe its my gut telling me I will fail.

don't be so hard on yourself! the most important thing in test taking like this is preparing mentally. think positive! i also printed out those practice test online and they are helpful! you will do fine, but don't get so nervous. it's ok that you didn't purchase the book for 30.00 that most got. as long as you studied some teas practice info you will be fine! let us know how you do! ill say a prayer. goodluck!

sincerely,

thank you so much for your encouraging words. you can't imagine how much i want this nursing career. i don't think i'll get any sleep tonight. i need to look at this material and retain as much as possible. i am really worried about the math and science sections.

i'd give anything to feel really positive about this exam. thanks for saying a prayer for me...god knows i will definitely need it.

if i don't ever update ya'll, that means i didn't pass and i will be too embarrassed to say it.

teas exam....here i come!

:cry:Hi, I just got home from taking the TEAS......I failed. I am still in shock. I was so hopefull of passing this test. My husband and my mom don't know what else to say to make me feel better, and sadly there isn't anything anyone can say to make this terrible disappointment easier to digest.

My score was a 66.5%. At first, I looked at a top number and it said %77. I couldn't have smiled any wider. Then I asked the guy giving us the test and he pointed me to my score. I had to fight really hard to hold back my tears. All the while I was walking to my car I just wanted to scream. As soon as I got in my car I started crying. I cried all the way to the Westbank to pick up my girls.

Some lady taking the test at the same time with me said that this test basically was to weed out those that wouldn't make it in Nursing school. I guess she was right. If I can't pass one cheesy test, what hopes do I have in Nursing school or on the NCLEX? I'll will definitely never pass that.

So, I have decided that this will be my last semester at Delgado. I am dropping out next semester and forgetting about my attempts at a Nursing career. Actually, I don't want to go back tomorrow...I think I might just forget about this semester and get F's in my classes. It won't matter anyway cause I'm not going back.

I was so passionate about succeeding but I just got a big reality check.

I want to thank each and every one of you who have written encouraging words. It really kept me positive until this morning. Good luck to those who continue and may you become the best nurses.

It was nice to dream for a little that I could someday possibly become a nurse.

Im sorry to hear that. But I don't think you should stop your journey here. That is why they give you two chances to take the test! I think you should take it again. Don't give up so easily!!

Sincerely,
