  1. I can't wait! I'm getting very anxious to start in Janaury! In regards to the CPR class, I THINK the red cross only lasts for one year. But the American Heart Assoc. doesn't have to be renewed until two years! I got all my books and Im going to start reading the assignments right after Christmas! I am planning to get my insurance in January. Along with the uniforms! When is everyone else getting their insurance? Anyone going to the student to student on the 13th? Getting very excited to meet everyone!!
  2. I had no problem making my appt. I scheduled mine with the lady in Slidell on Dec. 31st at 9 am in the morning. I also had a friend who scheduled the same class with no problems! Hope this helps.
  3. Great to hear from all of you that are starting in Janaury! I attended the Open House on November 14th and I found it be super helpful! The tour was very helpful, considering I had no clue where to even go the first day of class! Also, family got to see where I was going to school. I have ordered my books from Amazon. I spent about 600.00 which I thought was awesome! I marked yesterday, the reading assignment due for the first week! (Im trying to be prepared!) I am planning to attend the student to student session. I think it's January 13th?? No sure, since I don't have the papers right in front of me. When is everyone planning to order their uniforms? I scheduled my clinicals at St. Tammany considering I live in Covington! That was very nice. I look forward to meeting all of you! Let me know if anyone else has clinical at STPH. Thanks!
  4. When I got my letter saying that I didn't get in, their advice was to retake classes and the teas to better my grades and scores. However, I didn't feel the need to retake classes. And if I retook the TEAS they would take the second score, NOT the better of the two. And since I was borderline with the 70.6, I was too scared! So I just reapplied, and I got in! I was done with all my prerequisites this semester, and in order to keep my parents health insurance, I had to be full time! So this semester I am taking classes that are not even required like human diseases and advanced med term and nutrition and a few others! I feel like its a waste of my time bc they are not a prereq, however, Im sure these classes will help me out in the long run! I hope you get in, I know the feeling of waiting! GOODLUCK! Best Wishes, BlesterRN2be
  5. Don't sweat it! I start in January. I got in on my second time to apply. I have all A's and B's, however, I made a 70.6 on the TEAS. When you need at least a 70%. Hope this encourages you! Goodluck!
  6. I went to advising last Friday. VERY OVERWHELMED! I am trying to get all this paperwork done. I just pray I don't leave anything out. It was alot of info to take in all at one time. I wish they would allow us to schedule our classes with them and not have to do it online on our own. I am going to get fingerprinted today, and working on getting my money orders tomorrow. I am trying to get all my paperwork done and hand deliver it sometime next week. I havn't even started to look at books yet. I have a friend who is in her second semester and I was told I can borrow hers. I wonder if I should buy them anyway to have for future reference? Glad to see there are more of you out there stressing like me!
  7. I passed with a 70.6% And I got accepted to Charity on my second try. But when I took the TEAS last August the required score was like a 67% I think. Maybe a 65%. Im not sure. But when they bumped it up to a 70%, I thought my 70.6% was too close to call, I was too scared to take again in hope of a better score. I did well in the reading and english. The math and science were my weakness. I think that my reading and english evened out my score. I don't remember my exact scores in each section.
  8. I found my test to be more physics. And I never took physics in high school or college. So that portion was very difficult for me!
  9. In regards to your main question lam. I am also starting in January. Yes the medical forms are due by Nov. 2nd. I recently talk to the health lady and she needed a copy of my flu shot as well. I know that wasn't a requirement. Also, the admissions coordinator said that we should be expecting a letter in the next week for advising. She said the dates are Oct 5th thru the 16th... i think!! From what I heard from a friend who is already in Charity said that the advising is to make sure we have everything in line. Im not sure if we schedule our classes then or not. Hope this helps!! BlesterRN2be
  10. Im sorry to hear that. But I don't think you should stop your journey here. That is why they give you two chances to take the test! I think you should take it again. Don't give up so easily!! Sincerely, BlesterRN2be
  11. don't be so hard on yourself! the most important thing in test taking like this is preparing mentally. think positive! i also printed out those practice test online and they are helpful! you will do fine, but don't get so nervous. it's ok that you didn't purchase the book for 30.00 that most got. as long as you studied some teas practice info you will be fine! let us know how you do! ill say a prayer. goodluck! sincerely, blesterrn2be
  12. I personally thought it was difficult. However, I bought the book but didn't study it as hard as I should have. And once I took the test, I was like...If I had studied that book harder, I would have done so much better. So, if you are studying the TEAS book, you will do fine! Dont be nervous! And you do know you can take it twice, right? So you could try again if you don't pass, but Im sure you will. Even if you get a 70.5, take it and run!! But remember, if you pass and decide to take it again, they will take the 2nd grade. NOT the better of the two. You will do fine! GOODLUCK!! BlesterRN2be
  13. In regards to how Charity gets your official TEAS score. Before you take the test, you put what school you want the scores sent to. The testing people of Deglado will send Charity a copy. However, before you take the TEAS you will make a username and p/w. Then you go online, sign in, and print your results to send in with your packet as well. Hope this helps! I start in January at Charity, I also find the admissions coordinator to be very helpful! Sincerely, BlesterRN2be
  14. When I took the TEAS, I was enrolled in Math 118. However, there was some chemistry and physics on the test and I had not taken that since high school. The English and reading was the easiest for me. And they tell you to have Math 118 completed before you take the TEAS becomes alot of that class info is on the test. The 4 hours will fly by! Its all on the computer as well. The thing that got me was that it was timed too! I am not good with timed test. So practice taking the test under a timer, that may help. When I got my first letter saying I wasn't accepted, I cried! For a while! lol And what made it even harder was that alot of the people in my A&P classes had got in, and I didn't! I felt like I was the only one that didn't. But Im still young, and I want to do Nursing very bad! So, I applied again. I didn't retake any classes or the TEAS or anything to bring up my profile score. Granted, my A&P II was now being looked at which gave me like 10 extra points I think! But if you don't get in the first time, try again! I think it's def worth it! BlesterRN2be
  15. Not at all, I completely understand! I am not sure of my actual profile score, however, my grades for my prerequisites were all A's and B's. However, I did attend 2 semesters at SLU and I had some pretty bad grades on my transcript from there. I think that is what got me declined the first time. And like I said before I had a .2% of a point with the TEAS and I got accepted. It doesn't matter how high you score, just pass. Now granted, they are going to look at those with higher scores first, but you have to just pass in order to be considered! You will do fine! There is a book you can purchase from DCC bookstore, that will help you better prepare for the test! I would start reviewing that now!! And stick to it, because I didn't, and I think it would have helped me more! :) BlesterRN2be
