Charity School of Nursing spring 2015 assessment sheet

U.S.A. Louisiana

So I just completed my profile sheet for the Spring 2015 Semester. I plan on applying to charity in Aug. I had completed a profile sheet for Fall 2014 to see where I stand. The problem I discovered is that they removed a cumulative total of 10 points so now my profile score is now a 60!!! I am freaking out and I scheduled to take the HESI again to try and get a higher score since that is one of the places they deducted 5 points. I am so afraid that I will not make the cut now and don't know what to do!!! During the fall 2014 semester I am taking my last non-nursing pre-reqs (statistics and a Lit) other than that I have pretty much all the pre-reqs for any and all BSN programs in the metro area. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same situation or has heard if Charity has adjusted the cut-off as well as deducting the 10 points? I've KILLED myself working 72+ hours every 2 weeks overnight in an ER while maintaining a 3.3 GPA (3.00 CSN GPA non-nursing) constantly taking over full time status in school all of this while taking care of my two year old boys as much as I can. This has me so ruffled I don't know what I am going to do. All I keep thinking is that I will never get in now!!! I don't even know if anyone else is going to see this post that is going to be applying with me ??!!! OMG !!!

Hi everyone.

I am applying for the fall 2015 since I missed the deadline for the spring. I would like to know how is the CSN gpa curriculum is calculated on the assessment sheet. I am kind of confused. I have a gpa of 3.5 (after I finished this one course it should be higher). How is this calculated? any help will do? Thanks

nastasia_T,

This is a link to the RN information bulletin on the DCC main website, CSN program. Page 15/26 lists the courses used to calculate the CSN GPA. Hope that helps!

Thanks deadunderwolf. I see everything all of the course but do they use the credits you have received to calculate it? Or go by the grade? I have all letter grades and I still do not understand how they calculate it. in Micro I have a B in both lecture and lab. In a&p 1 I have a c+ and in the lab I have a b. For a&p 2 I have a b+ in the lecture and A in the lab. I have gotten good grades in English one and two (B and A). I've taken my maths and all. So I am kind of confused on how to do it still on how to calculate it.

One of several online GPA calculators; you can also divide number of quality points by number of credit hours earned per letter grade.

A couple of things to know:

-A grade of B+, etc. is simply a B.

-You earn credit for either MICRO 210 or 211, and the lab doesn't count toward CSN GPA.

I can send you the excel sheet that I made to calculate gpa. It won't be until over the xmas break though

I didn't get in for the transition program because my profile score was low. I've taken ALL my classes, and I'm an LPN. Idk what else to do to be accepted into this school!

I still haven't recieved anything either way and I see that other people have recieved their acceptance letters. Anyone else not get anything in the mail yet for fall 2015 ?

What was your profile score? I don't know much about the transition program... So I am not sure if the requirements are different. :/

They gave me a 55, adding all humanities I've taken. One I just dropped in 2011 for my bachelors in social work. I didn't know they add ALL HUMANITIES. I GIVE UP WITH TRYING FOR CHARITY. IM GOING TO APPLY ELSEWHERE

I'm so sorry to hear that!! I haven't received anything from them yet so no telling what they will do with my profile score because I failed math in the past and had to retake it. So I may have a lesser score than I thought. Just don't give up!!! Have you tried meeting with an admissions advisor & ask them what you could do?

The person I needed to see was not available as always. I was told my GPA is greater than 2.5, but they gave me 0 points for withdrawals. For which I never withdrew from any humanities. The class the counted was for my bachelors degree in social work. It was history. They added all my humanities. I took speech, philosophy, Spanish, fine arts, public speaking, all except history I received Great grades (A's & B's) this is BS and what they did me was so wrong. They want me to retake Hesi to get higher profile score and start in the spring class which is the 2 yr program. I'm a freakin LPN I applied for the transition program. I'm done with applying to charity. I give up they're unfair

Not only am I an LPN, I have an associates degree. My gpa is a 3.13. They scored me a 55. Smh! Done my crying, now I'm looking for a new school to attend
