HELP! New LPN grads having difficulty finding LPNA/internship positions in Lex area

U.S.A. Kentucky

Published

My friend and I are both Dec LPN grads. We are having a really hard time finding any open LPNA positions to complete our 120 hour internship at!

At this point we'll likely take anything offered to us within about 45 min radius around Lexington.

Also, as we are continuing on to get our RN, we are pretty much limited to working the 120 hours on Fri, Sat, Sun.

Can anyone suggest any leads? We are getting pretty worried!

If you want to totally bypass this silly red tape, it would be easier to apply for initial licensure in a state that borders Kentucky (Indiana, Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, or Missouri). Once you are licensed as an LPN in one of these states, you can simply endorse that license back into Kentucky without ever having to complete the 120 hour internship.

If completing the internship is something that you still want to do, I unfortunately don't have any leads for you. Good luck with your search!

Hey, thanks for the response. That would have been a great idea, why didn't I think of I before I paid the $200 for the NCLEX PN and the $110 for the KY license application?!?!?!

Hmmm........going to research....

I am a new grad I have taken my PN boards and passed them. I am currently searching for a place to complete my 120. The place where I am currently employed wants me to do the 120 on my off days and for FREE. I saw that you blogged about applying for licensure in another state. PLEASE inform me on how to do this because if I dont have to put in another 120 hours of FREE labor I DONT WANT To...

If I am not mistaken, in order to bypass the internship this way, the board requires you to have worked 500 hours in the state you are endorsing from. I might be wrong, though.
