Hi every body! I need some advice from you guys who have had their experiences with CRNE.I have plans of taking the exam in order for me to practice nursing in Canada.I noticed in their papers that the required areas that an applicant should have are:medical/surgical ,pedia, maternal, mental and community health nursing which I can readily comply base on my nursing program in the Philippines. However, when I saw their Form 30, "Gerontology"was included which confuses me because it was not included in some of there sheets. Is there anyone of you who were allowed to take the exam even without this component or did they first ask you to complete a qualifying course about it before given permission to write the exam?i hope you can help me and thank you in advance.

Hi! The first thing you need to do is apply for an assessment from wherever province you want to practice as a nurse. From there, they will advise you if you are eligible to take the CRNE.

Goodluck!;)

hello and welcome to the forums!

it all depends on your school's curriculum. like the poster above me said, you need to contact (or visit the website - in my case, CRNBC.ca) them with regards to your subjects. in my case, they checked my transcript and verified my curriculum (they want to know if the subjects in your school are more or less on the same standard).

I graduated from the philippines as well, and they didnt require me to get a refresher course. if they think your school doesnt meet their standards in gerontology, then they might require you to take a course focusing on it. like i said, you have to contact the college you want to register first.

on a side note.. i'm taking the CRNE this coming oct. 10... wish me luck!! lol
