My full time job has just been made into a one day a week job - I won't go into details, but I taught another employee all she now needs to do my job.

I have many many years experience in all types of nursing, have worked in the US, UK and Peru, and have dome clinical, management and recruitment.

I am now contemplating what I could do to work from home/own bussiness. I would love to hear anyones suggestions - due to this latest circumstance I am now loathe to work for someone else - I give all the ideas/knowledge and then I am left with out a livable income.

Specializes in Advanced Practice, surgery.

That's quite tough the obvious suggestions are a nursing agency, or how about teaching. THere are loads of opportunities for teaching things like CPR, emergency care, first aid, and maybe even extend to things like venepuncture and cannulation. You could contact your local hospitals training dept to see what there is a need for and tailor your subjects to the local market.

I have spent the last few years earning quite good money teaching first aid privately to top up my NHS pay. DOn't do so much now but there was definately a market

i am now in the us and due to a car crash am off work for the second time after shoulder surgery,,,with a reduced income, the first time around was with no income for 3 months,,,,anyway, my dh has not been able to work for 2 years and now has a disability with no income. so we have looked at extra money making things to do, including any new business that i could do. but without success. my latest bee in my bonnet is photography for him, but he is not very keen, so we are still a one income family, and a really low income for 3 months, so if i can think of anything for you i will.

Specializes in midwifery, gen surgical, community.

I have just filled in an on-line application form for mysteryshoppers. Fancy the idea of spending someone elses money.

I actually work from home now...in a wonderful business. There are actually quite a few nurses who chose this path as well! I keep my RN for fun now... ;)

what are you doing?
