Hello!
I am an Israeli RN with 16 years of experience. I am thinking about immigrating to Australia or NZ. I am seeking information regerding nursing there, especially nephrology nursing. I'd like to find out a few things like:
1. How long does shift last?
2. What is usual nurse-patient ratio?
3. How much does a nurse earn in comparison to living cost?
4.How do Australian people treat immigrants?
I'll be glad to get your opinions. Thanks.

Welcome to teh Bulletin Board!!!
I will try to answer some of your questions and if you read through the posts in this forum you will find more information.
1) 8 - 12 hours but we still have a thing called the Late/ Early - don't ask or you won't come over
2) Most places use a PND system so the nurse patient ratio depends on the acuity of the patients.
3) I'm not starving:D Truly depends on where you are living and what your standard is.
4) Open arms - mostly we are not perfect. We do try to make allowances for immigrants. We even have a "Multicultural TV channel" SBS http://www.sbs.com.au/sbs_front/index.html
