New grad (bn) looking for position in bc

Hi there,

First of all, I am so excited to have graduated!! I went to school at the University of Manitoba. Nursing seems like it will be a rewarding career and I enjoyed my practicum in Palliative Care/Medicine.

I am wondering if anybody knows the situation in BC for new grads? Preferably Abbotsford, Vancouver, or Victoria area. I am willing to move to a rural area up in Northern BC if there are some good Internship opportunities. Does anybody have any advice? Where do they need nurses the most? What are the promising hospitals to apply to as a new grad?

Thank-you so much!

I hear that PHSA offers really good orientation programs for new grads into their programs. I believe that they offer more orientation that Vancouver Coastal health and Fraser health.

PHSA has womens hospital and childrens hospital as well as the BC Cancer Agency.

If your looking for somewhere in the Lower Mainland Fraser health authority generally hires lots of new grads and has new grad programs set up. I would contact the New Grad recruiters in the health authorities and see what type of positions they have. I am sure they will find something for you.

You should have no problem finding a position in BC. When I went to the careers interaction day in Edmonton a few months ago most of the recruiters were from BC. They told me that the new grad initiative program throughout BC has monthly intakes and accepts new grads from anywhere across Canada.

Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Try the Fraserhealth website and cruise the careers section. There's loads of opportunities.

All health authorities are hiring new grads so pick the area you would like to live in and apply to that health authority.
