licensing questions

Hi everyone

I like to introduce myself first,

My name is Sanja, and I am a foreign nurse from Croatia, currently in Atlanta on an E -visa.

Last year I applied for the CES and CGFNS but due to some difficulties, lost papers etc....still waiting on the results. In the meantime I finished a CNA course and try to find a job in a hospital.

What would be the quickest way to get licensed in Georgia? I have a SSN and a working permit but no license. Is there any chance at this time that a hospital can petition for me to get the green card?

Green card petitioning is on hold for all nurses right now if you are in the US. Consular processing can be started but until there are visas available, you will be unable to obtain a green card.

You will need to follow the requirements that Georgia wants for License by Examination.

Until you have passed either the CGFNS exam, or the NCLEX exam, no hospital can start the process for you.

What type of E-visa do you have? Most are employer specific unless you got it as a spouse.

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for your fast reply.

I have an E- visa thru my husband. It will expire soon and the renewing is uncertain.

When you say the consular processing can be started does that allow me to stay in US until it’s accepted? Can I get any kind of visa thru a hospital at this time?

Hospitals do not provide visas, that is done thru USCIS. The issue for you is that an Adjustment of Status cannot be filed, they are on hold for everyone right now. You need to have passed either the NCLEX-RN exam or the CGFNS exam for any petition to be submitted. But please be aware that since the AOS is not a valid option at the moment; even if Consular Processing were the way that you wish to go, you will have to abide by the visa that you are currently on.
