Hi,
I am a registered nurse with 4 years of post graduate experience in acute care nursing. I am looking at trying to get my registration in the USA. I was wondering if you guys had any information on the following questions that I have been unable to answer:
-How many hours experience are needed in Pediatrics and obstetrics each and do you need a certain amount of theoretical and a certain amount of practical experience?
-Do you know of any bridging courses that are available in the USA or Australia that would enable me to get the required experience in pediatrics or obstetrics? I only need those two units and while Deakin offers a course, it will take 2 years, so I am looking for something a bit faster.
-Do I need a Visascreen through CGFNS or will a CES report suffice since I am going to be coming in under an E3 non-immigrant visa?
I would appreciate any information that anyone here could provide.
Thank you in advance.

My understanding is you will need VSC if requiring some form of work visa.
I had approx 150 hours both clinical and theory for obstetrics and 150 hours clinical and over 800 hours theory in Paeds but that was only because I had a good solid placement. You probably get away with 150 clinical in Paeds. These hours enabled me to get licensed in 2 states with no issues. Suggest asking the state re hours and they may give you a better idea
