Applying to Humber BN program!

I just applied to Humber/UNB Bachelor of Nursing program! I'm currently in their General Arts and Science (pre-health) program for my prereqs. Just wondering if anyone else here has applied to Humber?

Hi Bos! I applied as well, as a mature student. Since you're there now, how are you finding Humber? How have you found the GAS program? Do you feel it will be helpful?

Best of luck - now it's just a waiting game

I'll be a mature student too. I turn 25 in May And I'm an RMT already. I think Humber is a great school so far. When I was looking into schools last year, Humber was the only school that invited me to come in and talk to people about the program, rather than other schools that did their best to avoid my questions. The GAS program is a pretty good program; I think the best part is that I get to transfer some of my credits towards english and electives, so it will lighten the load during nursing.

Good luck to you too! Let me know if you get in, and maybe I'll see you next year!

Yeah, Humber is my top choice as well. I'm hoping to have some prior credits with UofT carry over, but we'll see. I'll be 30 in March and it scares the heck out of me to be going back to school at my age (even though I know I'm not that old). Are you working while in school and do you think you'll keep working for the next four years??

    Hi there,

I am a former Humber student, however, not from the UNB Nursing program. My closest friend graduated from the UNB program and let me tell you that it can be very intense and overwhelming at times. However, it is a good program and Humber is one of the better schools to receive your nursing training from.

Hey Bos - Have you heard anything back from Humber yet? I know acceptances are starting to filter out and I figure you'll have a good shot being in their GAS program.

What they do with the GAS program is different than outside applications. When I applied, they put my application in "PARK", which means it holds a spot until my final grades are in, and then they decide whether to accept me or not. So, I won't hear back until early May lol.
I do plan on working throughout school, but I have my own homebased business, so I set my own schedule. Do you plan on working?

Yep - I'm going to have to work through school in order to manage to pay for the following 3 years. Luckily, I have a great boss and I'm relatively well paid. They know I've been accepted and we'll work out if I'll be able to stay part time over the next few months. At this point, I've told her I'd like to take the month of September off to get back into the swing of being in school full time. It's been almost 10 years after all. From there I'll start adding shifts gradually until I reach a point where I'm comfortable, then work as many hours as I can during breaks/summer.

Sucks that you won't know for sure until May that you're in but from what I remember of some of your past posts regarding the GAS program, it doesn't look like your marks will be the issue. It's just the waiting to know for sure that's the tough part. I'm stil waiting for my acceptance package in the mail but I suspect it's a conditional offer pending my final grades in Chem & Bio. I'll hopefully know for sure on Monday or Tuesday. I figure it can't take that long for Canada Post to bring something from Etobicoke to Oakville

Congrats on your acceptance! Are you taking Chem and Bio online? I tried taking some online classes before I decided on the GAS program but found it too confusing.
I don't think I will have a problem getting accepted into the program as I'm doing fairly well this semester as well, but it's true that waiting is the worst! I just want to start the Nursing program now!

Yes - I'm doing my Chem and Bio through ILC. Bio's not so bad, but Chem's a (female dog). THe only reason I'm passing is due to my very patient tutor. Thank goodness she's a PhD! I'll be very excited to have someone to talk to about the upcoming battle!
