Hi everyone:

My name is Amy. I have a permanent RN license( and Visascreen too) from Kansas. But I am thinking to go to California or Arizona to go to work. I have two employers. I know it taks long time to get a permanent RN license to these two states. I wonder if Immigration Service will deny my I-140 application if apply with a temporary license. Anyone can help? It is a horrible feeling to stay unemployed.

Thanks!:)

Amy

Are you currently in the US? The I-140 just requires the Visa Screen Certificate that you have, essentially that you have passed either NCLEX or CGFNS and the English exams.

If you are not in the US, your petition time is going to be well over one year for working in California. If you are in the US and just putting in for a change of status, then you are looking at 90 days before receiving your EAD letter that allows you to work..................

Thanks! Suzeann, I am here in Kanas. I passed Nclex-RN. I got my nursing training in Kansas. I will like to know if I can use a temporary license to file I-140. Thanks agina!

The requirement is that you have passed NCLEX or CGFNS plus the English. You do not need an active license when you are petitioned by the hospital.

If you went to school in the US, did you get your F-1 changed to an OPT before you finished school?
