Specialties Infusion

Published

Hello everyone,

Resently I applied for a perdium Home Infusion job with a local company. Everthing was a GO until the DON had a meeting and found out that nurse that work for local private practices can not work for home infusion companies. What in the world!!!!!!! I am very upset becuase I really needed this perdium job.

Anyone know about this insane rule? Is this florida thing? :(

I'm not sure but I am also in Florida.......they have alot of different laws and I think they make them up as they go along LOL.....and they get away with enforcing them......Florida is a work at will state, so in other words I guess they feel that if you don't like things you can go some where else......I'm from Mass originally been here 17 yrs just keeps getting worse........where you from? Florida nursing is like being in a different country.......

I live in Brevard County. I have worked in the medical field for 15 years and as a nurse for the past 8. It was not until recently that I desided to find a per diem job to supplement the income from my full time job. I found the job, applied and was basically hired until this new rule came into play about not allowing nurses that work in private practice to workin Home health agencies because it would become a conflict of interest. I guess there were medicare fraud issues in Miami and the law became effective July 1.

I was really looking forward to the extra income. I don't want to do hospital or nursing home so this was a great opportunity.

Sounds to me like Big Brother/Sister are trying to keep Nurses from making a little extra money on the side. Ya'll CAN and MUST fight this Law, It seems as though the State/BON has slipped this under the Radar (so to speak), If there is a challenge of some sort to this Law, you must contact you state Reps and Senators and get someone on you side to repeal such nonsense/make a fuss!!!! - if you must revolt- revolt it must be!! They can't take evey single nurses license away....who would care for the sick then? Don't  down to them. You should all be one voice on this one,

this is your financial and job satisfaction they are playing around with !!!

This sounds more like a twist on an ethical conflict of interest policy, rather than a law. Since you work for a private practice that may recommend home infusion & if you are the one to do the home infusion on your practice's patient through another company, this could be construed to be a conflict of interest. Have the agency clarify this supposed law and direct you to where you can find it. It just seems like they did not want to go through the trouble of checking records to avoid you doing services for your practice's patient's. Try another agency.
