NCLEX question..............

How soon after you graduate from your RN program do you take the NCLEX?

When I sat for my Canadian boards for an LPN, all the classes from Ontario went up to Toronto all at the same time( it was Kaos) and did the old fill in the circle for the right answer and then we were notified by mail within a month of our results.

I realize testing is not that archiac any longer, plus that was 18 years ago.

Is the testing done in Indianapolis? Are there other grads present? How soon will you find out if you passed or not?

You can test as soon as 4 weeks after graduation, you have to wait for your school to send your picture and proof that you have met thiner requirements for graduation.

Then you send the state a check for 50.00 and pearson-vue 200.00. Pearson will then email you your ATT (Authorization to test) then you log on to pearson-vue and pick your test date. I tested on a Weds and had a license number on Thursday. Another lady I went to school with had a license number the same day!!! 4 hours after her test, while another didnt see a lic number for 7 days!!!, but you can log on to Pearson 48 hours after test to see if you pass/fail. So she only had to wait 48 hours to find out she was a Nurse, but had to wait the 7 days to get Nurse pay!!!

as far as locations, you type in your zip code and it gives you the closest 5. I know they have one in Indy-South Bend-Ft.Wayne and Richmond. Someone I graduated with actually test in Lansing Mi cause she could get a test date 3 days after she got her ATT.

Actually you just have to wait on the school to send their info into the ISBN. When you send your money order in to the ISBN it's a pretty quick turn around and so is the Pearson part too.

Our class graduated in December and we had one person take it a week after graduation and the last day of class (and passed!)

Personally I took it about 4 weeks after graduating because I had an NCLEX review scheduled. Some people say take it right away, but others say wait and study. I truly believe it's all dependent on the individual. It is hard to study though once you get out of school for the NCLEX no matter how disciplined you are!

I know that they have testing sites in Indy, Terre Haute, Fort Wayne, Dayton, and Cincinnati, but not in Richmond.
