Moving to indianapolis...help!

I am a nursing student strongly considering moving to Indianapolis upon graduating. I have family up there, but I don't know a whole lot about the daily life at the area hospitals. I am very interested in Rileys, but I would appreciate any information on any of the hospitals. What is the starting pay for a new grad in Peds (not critical care)? Are the management of the hospitals interested at all in hiring new grads directly into nursery? What color scrubs do the nurses wear? Thanks so much!!!! (all info is very much appreciated!!!!!)

First, you'll have no problems finding a nursing job in Indy. Riley is part of the Clarian network which included IU Med Center and Methodist, all excellent hospitals. There's also Community Hospitals with a several scattered throughout the city and there's also St Francis ad St Vincent.

The color of scrubs depends on unit policy. I've heard starting wages around $30, but I'm not an RN. Cost of living is cheap here. I would strongly recommend you contact a recruiter at Riley and see if you can get into a new grad program.

Plenty of good jobs here in Indy, St Vincents has a peds, Riley Hosp also.

The market is good for buyers also if you decide to purchase ahome also.

Indy is an awesome place to live and to work.

The Clarian system is great and so is ST.Vincents.

You might want to try Community - they all have new grad programs and are excellent hospitals.

Apartments are pretty easy to find close to the hospitals / even in downtown Indy!

If you are looking to buy a house I would look North or Northwest but there are some very nice areas east and south so you just need to look-

the nightlife for a young couple is fantastic / with or without kids!

The new stadium is fantastic even tho the Colts did not have as good a season as the year before.

Great Food, Great People, Great Churches, no matter your faith and for the Midwest the weather isn't too bad.

You will be living close to some of the best State Parks in the country. The city parks are absolutely the best anywhere. Brown County is so close and so is Bloomington.
