Lewis University-Fall 2014 ABSN

U.S.A. Illinois

Hey!

Is anyone else on here thinking about doing the fall pre-term, spring 2015 cohort at Lewis? I was just at the information session yesterday and it got me a bit more interested in the program although I'm still waiting for a response from another program.

Hey agutow15, thanks for your info on the KAT. I took it last night and passed with quite a large margin. It was pretty easy. There was an information session afterwards. I'm confused now, does that mean I'm admitted? They didn't really explain that very well. Any insight? Thanks for all your comments!

Thanks you so much for all of your insight and information! one more question, did you have to get your ID before the pre-term?

So the way I explain it to ppl is there are multiple hurdles you have to pass, but if you can get over all of them you are automatically admitted into the program. So the first hurdle was passing the gpa from your undergrad requirement, then you have to pass the KAT, and attend the informational meeting. After you pass all of those steps (which you already have) you have to finish all of the required courses that you might be missing from your undergrad degree depending on what you received your undergrad in (ie. anatomy/physiology, microbiology, organic chem ect). Once you have completed all of those (remember you have to have over a 2.75 in your undergrad to continue on) they sign you up for what they call Pre-Term. Pre-term consists of 3 mission courses required by the university (you may take one of these mission courses through a junior college, but at least 2 of the 3 have to be taken at Lewis during your pre-term) and pathophysiology. As long as you maintain above a 77% in each of the courses, you will receive an acceptance letter and be placed in a cohort. Remember a 77% is considered a "C" in the nursing program so you have to stay above it otherwise you will not be able to continue.

I will be starting my cohort this August so time really does fly by!

I did not get my ID or parking pass until I was in pre-term but both are free to students in this program

I was accepted this week to the Depaul Masters Entry program, so I will no longer be considering Lewis. Wishing you guys the best of luck with your degrees!

I am taking the KAT this coming Monday (the 18th) and very nervous I might add! So if I pass that will put me in line to start the cohort in Fall of '15. If anyone else thinks they're starting around the same time, it'd be great to connect!

I have that review book and embarrassed to say I'm worried about the reading comp section! Some of these review book questions and passages are intimidating and horrible, did anyone think the reading comp was tricky like these practice Q's or did the actual test seem more straightforward? Any info, helpful suggestions are appreciated!

Hey tmargaret,

The test was really straight forward. I really stressed about studying, and found the test to be quite easy. The math is really very simple and the reading is as well. You'll have plenty of time- I had time in every section to go back and re-check every answer at least once! You should have no problem! Good luck!!!!!
