JJC 2013 Spring Nursing Applicants ?

  1. 0
Hello - this is my very first time posting a new topic, hopefully I'm doing this correctly.

Just wanted to see if there are any ladies/gentlemen out there applying into the nursing program for the Spring 2013 semester. We apply the first two weeks of August - and then does anyone know how long until we take the TEAS test? I keep getting told different things, it's confusing.

Speaking of.....Hopefully I'm accepted and can then maybe make some friends. I'm so sick and tired of the people who tell you one thing that's untrue, all to mess with your head and make you second guess anything you've ever known about this nursing program. I know this is a competitive field and all, but sheesh already, the lies and manipulation have been unreal!

Also, I have to say, I admire anyone who has (especially while working FT w/a family) gone to school to take these pre-reqs while not even knowing if you will get in. The stress I have experienced, the stress and torture I have put my family through while leaving 3-4 nights a week after work, to go to school, while not even knowing if I'll be accepted, has been beyond brutal. I wish we could write an essay on all that we've sacrificed in hopes that would make some of the admissions counselors feel guilty enough to just put an approved stamp on our applications

    Good luck to you all!

HI! I will be applying for Spring 2013 as well. GOOD LUCK! I am married with two kids and work registry so I understand where you care coming from with the sacrificing! From what I read, after the application deadline, within 10 days we are to receive an email with the TEAS testing. I am beginning to get very nervous because I really want to be accepted on the first attempt!

Hi! I am also married and I have 3 kid, 9, 3 and 2. I applied for Spring 2013 and I take the TEAS this weekend....a little...ok very nervous. At first I was like, ok if I dont get in for Jan 2013 start I can always re-apply...now after thinking about it and relaizing all the hard work I have done....I really want this. Good luck to you all and hopefully I will see ya in class in the spring.

I take the TEAS this weekend as well. I have three children and know what the rest of you are going through.

I agree, the competition is brutal. Some of the lies I've heard people tell is laughable. My advice, DON'T listen to anyone! If someone comes running from the direction of the testing room screaming, FIRE! Proceed to the exam anyway! LOL! I'm praying for each and every applicant. Everyone has worked so hard to make it to this point. I am still working on A&P 2, not sure how that is going to affect my chances, since I'm short an important prereq.

Is anyone else having a hard time studying for the TEAS? There is just so much, every time I sit down to work, I feel like I have ADHD! Like right now, I should be going over all my old Chem notes. I got about three pages in. *sigh*

    Best wishes to everyone!

Well now that the TEAS is over - how does everyone feel they did?

Please feel free to post your score or not, just tell us how you felt about the test in general.

I actually did better in math and science, than I did in the writing portion. It's ridiculous, some of the questions on there. Hopefully they realize nurses don't really need to use proper commas when they are in an E.R. helping someone just in a car accident (shm).

Oh, also I'm glad to see everyone else who posted, also noticed the lies people spew from their mouths about the nursing program. I thought maybe it was just me, people messing with my head, but almost relieved to know others have been through the same thing.

Good luck to you all, I hope we all get to meet in Spring 2013.

I was so nervous, I barely read the test. Sounds crazy, right? I think I did okay though. We will see. I did best in reading and science. I hope if I get in, I can find a nice group of ladies to study with. I can't handle jealous, mean, lying, drama lamas. ~ Did I punctuate properly? Because, according to the TEAS, I need a refresher course on commas.

I imagine we'll be back at the end of October asking if anyone got their emails?

Hi everyone! I haven't been on here for a little while, but it would have been nice if I had, because we took the TEAS test the same weekend. I also took the TEAS on the 22nd at JJC. OMG, I felt the test was horrible!! I took 3 of the online practice ATI tests and scored pretty well. The actual test...not as well as the last online practice test. I felt the actual test was even harder than the online practice ones and those sucked too! But on the last online practice test I had an 88 in reading, 78 in science, and I forgot what I had in Math and English but no such luck on the actual TEAS The actual science portion- I had almost all chemistry questions- A LOT of chemical reaction questions--grrrrr!

I am honestly freaking out now and wondering if I will even get in I am curious of everyones TEAS score if you don't mind sharing. I feel embarrassed to even share mine but here it goes

    GPA 3.74
All pre-req's completed plus some additional
    CNA

    Reading TEAS score- 74%
    Overall Comp- 69%

I scored an 88 in math...not that it will help me at all. I know he said he is predicting the avg will be lower this round due to the 100 less qualified applicants, but if it was 78 last round, I don't know what it may be this time and if that helps my odds or not.

PurplePRN-- your ending of your post was hilarious!

Wishing every one of us a lot of luck and hopefully we will receive good news within the next month...now we wait! Did I use the "..." correctly? LOL!

Bella2BRN.........So, there were 100 less applicants this time? That would be awesome!!! And by 78, what do you mean? Was that the lowest score accepted? Or the average score accepted?

Ack, I hate posting my scores. Feels weird. Like being nekid. But here goes, since I know future generations (ROTF) hang on to this information as they prep for the TEAS.

    Reading: 91
Math: 87 (forgot I did this well in math)
    Science: 82
English: 70 (um, yeah, IDK what happened here)
    Comp: 83

    GPA 4.0

I'm taking my last prereq now. I'm not sure how much that will hurt my chances of getting in?

Yea, the proctor mentioned how he felt the avg score of the students that will get in this round will be lower than the round before us because there was 100 less qualified applicants. So last round, the avg score of those that were accepted was 78/80..somewhere around there.

Awesome job!! I am extremely upset that I didn't do as well on the reading portion In addition to that, just upset with my overall score.

I think you did well, even if you didn't finish that last pre-req. My nursing advisor said we receive points for the pre-reqs required that we have completed, GPA, CNA, Reading TEAS score, and Overall TEAS score. So even if you don't have the last pre-req, you will have points based on your TEAS score for sure!!!
