  1. PurplePRN & Zamrn - I received your PM's but I can't respond Grrr Would you mind sending me your email and I'll get in touch with you that way instead?
  2. You really hit this spot on. Ever since I have attended JJC, all I have ever heard is NEGATIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE. If I listened to a quarter of it, I would have never even pursued this goal. This is part of the reason why I even started this thread to begin with, because I'm sick of hearing it and came on here to vent and to see if anyone else was in the same boat as me. It's obvious that nursing will not be all fairytales and roses - I'm just anxious to know what to expect as I'm sure we all are. Having to wait until Mid-November is a killer on my nerves and then getting told wrong information over and over again by E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E is just ridiculous. I don't believe anyone anymore, I've lost faith in people being able to either tell the truth or at least give valid information. Thank you PurplePRN for coming on and well, kind of being mediator. You are able to see this from both sides which well, I'm just not capable of doing at the moment because I AM drained and exhausted from all this worrying and stressing the hell out.
  3. No offense hopefull2011, but if you've been in this program for 2 years, then you are about to graduate, right? Why are you even on this thread? You said you didn't want to scare anyone, but that's exactly what you're doing. You never even answered my question about what a more feasible schedule looks like, since the one I posted was apparently, baloney. If you are just 2 months away from graudating, maybe a better approach to all of us "newbies" would be to encourage instead of what you're currently doing, because what you're currently doing.....sucks.
  4. If the information I posted is incorrect, can you please shed some light as to what a more correct schedule would be? I'm completely lost and beyond frustrated with the lack of communication and wrong information I've been getting now for almost 2 years about this program.
  5. I didn't speak to a secretary - W*O*W - wrong information again. That's just awesome.
  6. Hello everyone - For any of you new day nursing students, you may be curious about your upcoming schedule. It's been bothering me, b/c I need to get childcare in order, so I called the nursing department and below is the entire schedule they gave me. We of course pick only one time for each day, those are just all the classes available. Theory is Monday and Friday - 8-10am 10-12 am or 1-3 Clinical Topics I think she said - this is Tuesday 8-10 10-12 or 12:30 - 2:30 Clinical will be either Wednesday or Thursday 8-12 (1st 4 weeks in class) 7:30-12 (following 5 weeks in nursing home) 7:30-12 (remainder of semester in the hospital) And for those of you who do not have your CNA, you will have to add the Nurs 140 class ontop of this schedule. Also, I asked earlier if anyone knows if we have to be at our clinical site at 6am, because that is the latest rumor. Obviously, the above schedule dictates this is NOT the case - we only have to be at our clinical sites that early in the FOURTH and final semester. Hopefully this will help some of you understand what our schedules will look like and maybe clear up any confusion. The lady who I spoke with said we will ALWAYS be done before 3pm every single day too, so I'm sure some of you have older kids that probably get home around that time - hopefully you can be there to greet them while wearing your scrubs and stethoscope So proud of all of us, is everyone getting excited/anxious?
  7. Thank you Matka for posting evening times, I'm sure that really helps the incoming night students. Does anyone know though what a daytime schedule may look like? As always, rumors fly and go in so many different directions - I've heard you have to be at your clinical site at 6am. I'm sure this could pose childcare issues for people including myself, which needs to be figured out in the next month or two. Does anyone know if 6am clinical times is legit or is this a rumor like all the other stuff I've heard?
  8. Me too!! I got in for days also, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  9. Haha, me too! I'm anxiously awaiting mine as well. Seems like you and I have a lot in common - hopefully we can be in some classes together. It would be nice to actually know someone REAL instead of all the FAKE people I've met thus far.
  10. For me, I don't really care what the program is like, as long as I leave with my RN. 80% is fine with me - I've never had below an A anyways, so it doesn't bother me they have this requirement. The info you gave was no different than the pressure I already have on myself, the pressure WE ALL have on ourselves just to simply make it into the program. We're always worried about our grades in regular psych and biology classes along with balancing work/family and everything else. Thank you for your input SweetHomeChicago, but I'm certainly not running to another school just because someone told me to. Again, good luck to all of you out there. Hopefully we will get our letters today, but well, that would be too easy now wouldn't it? It wouldn't be any fun if we didn't wait all weekend for our results.
  11. So how is everyone doing today? We are one day closer to knowing what our future holds for us. Has anyone else completed ALL of the pre-req classes, like micro, speech, soc, all of these yet? By the end of this semseter, I will have finished them all. I keep wondering, what should I do if I don't make it in. If this is your situation too, have you contemplated taking the CNA class to get your foot in the door or would it just be a waste? Just curious - I feel a little confused, probably more emotionally than anything.
  12. You are so right - that is one of the other reasons I made this post, aside from being a nervous wreck about the TEAS. So many of us are going through this together, I truly hope we get it, all of us! I'm REALLY hoping that since the new building is supposed to be opening up Spring 2013, maybe they will take more applicants? Has anyone heard anything about this being a possibility? I was at school last night and read the paper which stated the nursing area is state of the art w/mannequins that actually cry, sweat, and bleed - how cool is this!! I sooooo want to be apart of this, I want it so bad I can taste it!
  13. Oh, also I'm glad to see everyone else who posted, also noticed the lies people spew from their mouths about the nursing program. I thought maybe it was just me, people messing with my head, but almost relieved to know others have been through the same thing. Good luck to you all, I hope we all get to meet in Spring 2013.
  14. Well now that the TEAS is over - how does everyone feel they did? Please feel free to post your score or not, just tell us how you felt about the test in general. I actually did better in math and science, than I did in the writing portion. It's ridiculous, some of the questions on there. Hopefully they realize nurses don't really need to use proper commas when they are in an E.R. helping someone just in a car accident (shm).
  15. Hello - this is my very first time posting a new topic, hopefully I'm doing this correctly. Just wanted to see if there are any ladies/gentlemen out there applying into the nursing program for the Spring 2013 semester. We apply the first two weeks of August - and then does anyone know how long until we take the TEAS test? I keep getting told different things, it's confusing. Speaking of.....Hopefully I'm accepted and can then maybe make some friends. I'm so sick and tired of the people who tell you one thing that's untrue, all to mess with your head and make you second guess anything you've ever known about this nursing program. I know this is a competitive field and all, but sheesh already, the lies and manipulation have been unreal! Also, I have to say, I admire anyone who has (especially while working FT w/a family) gone to school to take these pre-reqs while not even knowing if you will get in. The stress I have experienced, the stress and torture I have put my family through while leaving 3-4 nights a week after work, to go to school, while not even knowing if I'll be accepted, has been beyond brutal. I wish we could write an essay on all that we've sacrificed in hopes that would make some of the admissions counselors feel guilty enough to just put an approved stamp on our applications :) Good luck to you all!
