Anyone recently licensed by endorsement?

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

I currently live in California and I'm working on paperwork for licensure by endorsement to Illinois. Can anyone tell me how long the process was for them. I mailed my verification of license form to my BON on July 13th and I still have not received it back. I just saw on the website that it takes about 6 weeks to verify. I had planned on moving at the beginning of October and now I'm wondering if I will have all the paperwork processed. I have also put my apartment hunt on hold because I don't want to end up having an apartment in Chicago and being unable to work there because I don't have a license. Can anyone tell me about how long it took once they sent their paperwork to the Illinois BON? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Jolie, you were absolutely CORRECT..........

I waited like a good little girl until 6 weeks and 1 day after I mailed the form to my BON. I waited because I understand they are very busy. I called on August 25th and the lady told me "Oh, we mailed that out to Illinois on August 2nd". I was happy and pissed off at the same time. I was happy because the paperwork was already there but then pissed off because I waited/wasted 3 weeks. I then paid the extra money to have my application delivered the next day on August 28th. Today I checked online and it says I have an ACTIVE Illinois license. I'm totally shocked the process went so quickly. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. Praise the LORD! Had I not wasted the 3 weeks, the process probably would have only taken 3-4 weeks. I think it went alot faster because I did the Livescan instead of fingerprint cards. I'm moving at the end of October!!!!

Good luck on your move, and new job! Let us know how it all goes!

I'm sure you've realized by now that CA will not send directly to you, they sent mine to IL BON. Did you get your temp license yet? I'm still waiting. That IDPR website is horrible, their phone lines are even worse. I think it's completely unprofessional to have busy signals!! I haven't been able to get through to ask if they are processing my application! At this rate, I'll never be able to work! sniffle

They received my application on August 29th and I checked online on September 14th and it said I had an active license expiring May 2008. I received my Temp license in the mail on September 19th. I think it went so fast because I did the Livescan fingerprinting instead of fingerprint cards. I agree, the phones and website for Illionois BON are horrible. When I called, I just kept dialing the number over and over again for about 2-3 minutes and I finally got through. Good Luck!

I live in southern Illinois and close to St. Louis, MO. Some MO nurses applied for endorsment and stated that it was a really long process. I went to school in Missouri and applied for an Illinois license when taking my boards for this specific reason. I wanted to work in Illinois and found out it wouldn't take as long to apply for endorsment should I choose to work in Missouri. The reason why it takes so...long in Illinois? I was told that they are just plain slow and do alot of the processing by hand. Wether it's true or not, I don't know.
