Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

Disregard this message.

I got accepted a few weeks back to Truman's nursing program. Happy belated congrats to all that have made it, I'm sure it will be a fun program. I think we are all very fortunate to be part of such great program that produces a high percentage of students that pass the NCLEX. You will also run into people who look down on the program because it is not a BSN curriculum. However, I would like to remind everyone that the people who look down on this degree are usually the one's who end up or already have $30,000+ student loans. Ironically enough they where not smart enough to invest in economically viable degree. There are not many two year programs that provide so many career opportunities especially at this tuition rate. I hope that we focus on upholding high standards and work together to bring a positive atmosphere for this upcoming semester.

Very well put Rick!

Does anyone know the total cost of the program by the way?

Hi all - congrats on getting in :)

I'm going into 2nd year and I just wanted to mention one thing about CPR - make sure the class you take is for healthcare workers - that's the one you need and it has to be done before you start clinicals in the fall.

Good luck!!

Hello everyone,

I've been stalking this blog, and the other one for a few weeks now and finally I decided to come forth and say CONGRATULATIONS to all those accepted!! It's been a long long journey and will continue to be one for awhile. I have also just been accepted into the nursing program at Truman. Reading all your posts and updates have really helped in my wait crisis for that letter.

As for the cost of the tuiton at Truman, I believe its around $6K but that doesn't include cost of books, uniforms, etc.

Anna2012 Congrats! on your acceptance! :yelclap: I heard the same thing about Chicago hospitals only hiring BSN nurses  just in case, been thinking about taking statistics as an option for either a ADN or BSN or transfer to BSN nursing program  anyone know who is considering BSN after their ADN? or who has taken statistics and where? I work as a CNA and I have tuition reimbursement TIA and CONGRATS!!!!!

I would rather start working and have my employer pay for a BSN. I plan on getting a BSN after.

Hello everybody!

I'm looking forward to being in class with you this Fall @ Truman! And maybe this summer in night school Microbiology.....

FYI Wright College also offers the required CPR for Healthcare Providers. Check their Adult Ed listings for times.

They offer it twice this summer, I'm taking it sometime in June.
