Accelerated or Second Degree Schools

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hello

I was wondering if anyone had any information on accelerated or second degree nursing programs near Chicago.

I am looking online, and some of programs look like they are technical schools or just newly credited, so before I started applying, I wanted to know which schools you guys would recommend?

Thanks!

I am fine with traveling up to an hour away, I know even Indiana has a school only 40 minutes away from Chicago.

Specializes in PCU, LTAC, Corrections.

I am in the process of applying to Elmhurst College. The program there is a Nursing Masters' Entry. The program is two years long and at the end of it you will receive a Masters' degree.

I applied to Elmhurst College NME program as well; for the Fall 2014 term. Just submitted my application a week ago. I cant seem to find many posts about their program...just Depaul and UIC mainly.

I also applied to Elmhurst's NME program for Fall 2014. Does anyone know when they will start accepting students?

HI, I recently had my interview for Elmhurst's NME program...have you heard anything back from them

No, not yet, but my application was not submitted until January 20th, so I hope that is why.

Has anyone had an interview and if so how was the interview?

Rush has a GEM program (I'm currently on term 3) in Chicago

: )

Chicago has a decent amount of options. If you already have your bachelor's in another field, I would suggest doing a general master's entry program. The big ones in Chicago are:

GEM at Rush

GEP at UIC

MENP at DePaul

I received my MSN from DePaul, so let me know if you have any questions about application, admission, differences in programs etc.

Good Luck!!

i can't pm right now b/c i dont have enough posts but were you able to know if you got into the program after you submitted all of your materials? How is the financial aid like for the menp program, did you or other students have to take out a lot of loans? I plan on applying to depaul as well as some absn programs and I know that with the absn programs the government funding is more limited b/c I would have already received my first bachelor's. also which campus were you on, was the commuting process difficult and did you live in the city, in the suburbs or do they provide campus housing?

Thanks

Hi,

I also applied to the NME fall cohort program at Elmhurst. They recently extended their admissions deadline to March 1. My application was verified by Nursingcas feb 28. I have not heard back from the school yet. Has anyone else?

Those who were accepted already, how did your interview go? And anyone doesn't mind sharing their stats, please do so! Thanks so much.
