My question is............can it be used along with oral morphine for severe dyspnea? Or should it just be one or the other used?

Yes Mam, it can be used along with other meds. I worked Hospice for 5yrs. Our pharmacist and myself used to go round and round about the efficacy of nebulized MSO4. He was sure it didn't work. I had a terminal COPD'er and took his sats prior to nebulized MSO4 and it was 84%, after his Tx 10mg MSO4 in normal saline, his O2 sats were 94%. The pt layed flat out and slept peacfully without the usual orthopnia he suffered with, resp. 10-12/m, even and unlabored. Our Dr. said the med went directly to the lungs and did not affect the routine MSO4 taken. If your pt has been on MSO4 for 2wks, they will develope a tolerance to the S/E of resp. depression.
