i have a question for the Oasis question regarding Surgical Incisions;

a patient with a Dialysis shunt, i know that the exit site of a peritoneal catheter is always considered a surgical incision,,,is a patient that has a AV shunt also considered to always have a surgical incision because it is a venous access device....this question on the oasis does not always make sense (as alot of them),,also a nurse told me that a pacemaker is always considered a surgical incision,,,i said no to that one, which led me to read further, i did find out that i was correct with that one....just got me thinking.

Venous access device/dialysis shunt is always a surgical incision, even if it is fully closed. And you will always monitor that site for the presence of a thrill.
