Shorted on paychecks

I started as a RN Case Manager with my current HH employer about 6 weeks ago. I have 3 years of HH experience.

So many flaky things! When I started I was told I would be paid hourly until I was up to full productivity with a full case load which would probably be about a month, and while I was learning the computer system. It's been 6 weeks now and I still have not had any formal training on the computer, just willy-nilly figuring things out by trial and error, asking co-workers, fixing problems after the fact, etc. This takes a LOT of extra time, and I had been charging hourly for it. Once I started getting paid per visit I do not get compensated for all the crappy time spent figuring out the computer and I intended to take advantage of that time. Now I am pay per visit and find it really affects my attitude about case managing. I mean, exactly how am I to get paid for random calls and case management activities?! The only time I make money is when I see a patient, not working at the office, not returning calls on my day off, etc.

By the end of the first week they wanted to switch me to to per visit pay, which at that point I was seeing all of 15 patients and worked a bunch of overtime with learning the computer and such. I had 43 hours the second week and 44 hours the third week. By week 3 I was pretty much up and running and they wanted to switch me to per visit pay. I was only seeing 20-25 patient's that week, so I said I would still prefer hourly until my case load was full. So the next week I got 37 visits and managed to squeeze it into 40 hours, so I kind of got ripped off on that one. I would have made $500 extra dollars if I'd have been paid per visit that particular week.

Regardless, one nurse at work said I'd better review my pay stubs to make sure I was getting paid fairly. So I did. I found out that over the last 4 weeks they have shorted me $1098!!!! Some is missed mileage reimbursement and most is visits unpaid. To top it off, they keep asking me to take on more work, and being new I have a hard time passing it up. I worked 17/18 days in a row and NO OVERTIME of course since I am paid per visit now.

Other than the pay schedule and the low wage, I really really like the company, and the people a great. I plan to address the paycheck shortage with my supervisor tomorrow. Hoping it's just weird computer errors I unknowingly made which messed up the payroll. Just wanted to gripe! I have never been in the position to review my freaking pay stubs before!

Also hope this is only computer errors, but don't be surprised if it is not the fault of the computer. It is up to you to stay on top of your pay and to keep them honest. If they refuse to do right by you, you will have to decide if the job is worth it.

Sounds exactly like a company I used to work for, starts with an A, ends with a huge headache and loss of sanity.
