OASIS Recertifications

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this Forum and have a OASIS question...I know, imagine that!

I am wondering what other Agencies are doing if a OASIS Follow - Up is completed outside of the 56-60th days? I realize we are not following the COP's but, do you discharge the client and do a new SOC? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, Deb:confused:

Just found out today our UR RN is taking 3 month personal leave as of Friday and I'm elected to do all 488 reviews and assist with UR !

Think we are dating all late as of last date of cert if not submitted within five day frame. Haven't come across this, have an idea but will confir with UR/QA and respond tomorrow.

Oh Karen, have fun!!

Deb, I can tell you that an agency I know, who shall remain nameless, just back dates them, using data from the last visit. If a nurse who knows the pt, or the CM does this, I actually see no problem with it, but technically, I suppose you should d/c & re-admit...but that is even MORE paperwork! I'd be more interested in what Karen has to say, she IS the HH guru!!

Welcome Deb, please post often!!

Spoke with UR re Oasis not completed in 5 day window. Patients ARE allowed to decline a visit! This can be documented by a Clinical Manager if the reason why staff not in the home to complete OASIS in proper time frame. She advises not discharging patient then readmitting as no justification for that.

If visit made in this timeframe, mgmt staff / primary nurse should do Oasis based on last visit note. Hoolahans reponse been known to happen according to my colleages in other agencies.
