I was wondering what is protocol if you disagree strongly whether a child should go to the hospital and mom says no?{the child was in gastric distress, it was very obvious}

I had this experience lately, parents are usually very attentive and loving to this child.

Yek, this was so..stickey!!

Also any tips on homehealth etiquette when starting a new case or in general?

Thanks in advannce from Ma. LPN

Make certain that you have clearly explained the situation to the mother, then call your nursing supervisor, give her all the pertinent info, and document, document, document everything. Your nursing supervisor will talk to the mother and may call the doctor to get involved. If there is a "setting aside" of the issue, and you strongly believe that you are right about your call to seek medical help, I would refuse to go back to that case. And if your supervisor does not back you up on your call about this, then you need to find another employer. And certainly make sure that your is in force.
