I am considering making the change to home health care on a permanent basis. I am an LPN (got my license in June, 2006) and my regular job is working in a hospital clinic and I have a private client under home health that I see on Saturdays. In my eye, home health care is quieter and I can be the complete nurse that I was trained to be. I am thankful to this site to see all sides of home health care. I used to be a home health aide many moons ago, so some of the conditions that were mentioned were also experienced by me.

How do you all manage obtaining health insurance for yourselves working in home health? I plan to stay at my main job for about 2-3 years, but want an environment with less stimulus and stress. But, there is the health insurance in mind. Also, are their agencies that provide sick days or vacation days, or is it that I should schedule accordingly to save for times such as this?

Thanks!

I work FT and get benefits so I get insurance as well as 4 weeks vacation, 12 sick days per year, 4 personal days, and 8 holidays per year.

Great to know. I guess the goal is to find an agency that offers such benefits. Thank you for your timely response!
