I have had co-workers that don't do anything, but joke around. :( Unless a person is blessed to have perfect co-workers, that mind their own business and give a helping hand whenever it's needed and don't gossip. And their administration never bothers them and they have no more than 2 patients and those patients never give any real problems. Then I would suspect that HH nurses don't really miss "having co-workers to joke around w/?" Many nurses go into this area to get away from the politics and problems that come with facilities.

I too, do not miss having other nurses around all the time. When I need to be sociable, then I go to the office for awhile. There's always something to do there (chart audits, etc.). One of the reasons that I chose HH was the autonomy and not having someone on my shoulder all the time. Pam

okay, maybe "joke around" wasn't the right wording.....

anyway, how often are you required to go to the office?...

Oh we do joke around sometimes. Most nurses have an interesting sense of humor (to say the least, LOL). I am required to go to the office once weekly. I go more often to turn in paperwork, but it's just hi and bye. Pam

I agree with the other posts. I do not miss the company of other nurses 90% of the time. I go to the office once a week or so, and get my fill of socialization then. I also am a preceptor, so I do get a welcome break of solitude once in a while. Man, there is nothing like traveling in the car, listening to the radio, rather than gossip on your breaks!

I'm in the process of emigrating to the USA & the company I'm with asked if I'd mind doing Home Health or whether I was set on hospital work. Not only did I say Home Health would be fine I'm truly hoping that will be what I'll be offered when the time comes!

It's not that I don't like hospital work but I agree with many of the comments above plus when you read the threads about stressed out ward nurses someone from HH always seems to ask if they'd thought about HH!!:lol2:
