  1. You are quite welcome! hope it helped. Pam
  2. I have worked with both scenarios. I like being the field nurse and the case manager. That way, I know everything going on with the patient and in some cases, the family. I just don't think that someone in the office, who has never seen the patient, can get a good handle on what they need. I also use faxes. I think that it's alot easier than trying to take an order while driving. I almost had an accident once doing that. So I started the fax thing. They will still call me occasionally, but at least there's an option. Pam

I'm glad you'll give us another shot! And I'm glad they are going to orient you with someone else. Yes, I wear scrubs. There is nothing else quite as comfortable to work in for me. (besides, I have a zillion). Coming from the ICU myself, I find HH quite a challenge. I do a little of everything from IV's to complicated wounds. And I have fun doing it! What a job! Pam

For some reason, I have seen nurses in all areas (HH, ICU etc) do this. I think that they have some strong psych issues to make themselves feel better or more superior at the expense of others. Please do not judge all HH nurses by this one's actions. Look at this board and the commarderie (sp?) here. Please give it a chance! Pam
  5. I agree with all the above. I wouldn't do anything else!!!! Pam
  6. Oh we do joke around sometimes. Most nurses have an interesting sense of humor (to say the least, LOL). I am required to go to the office once weekly. I go more often to turn in paperwork, but it's just hi and bye. Pam
  7. I too, do not miss having other nurses around all the time. When I need to be sociable, then I go to the office for awhile. There's always something to do there (chart audits, etc.). One of the reasons that I chose HH was the autonomy and not having someone on my shoulder all the time. Pam
  8. Hi healinghands, Welcome to the world of HH! In my agency we just went to CM. I have worked for another agency where we did CM so it wasn't difficult for me to make the transition. Some of the other RNs are having a hard time with it though. I like because I know everything there is to know about my patients this way (and don't get any nasty surprises). I work out of Central FL and my cell bill is always alot more than my allotment of 40.00. I also am salaried so I can't really compare with visit rate or whatever. I find the rewards of what I am doing compared to hospital (ICU) so great and I hope that you do too. Good Luck and keep on going! Pam
  9. We use them all the time. I have had good and bad results with them. Sometimes I have to stick more than once. As a whole though, I would say that I like having the results right then and can call and get change in dosages.
