Hi, I have been in nursing for over 20 years and recently was off work due to stress. I am a critical care RN and was told by my doctor that I need a less stressful work environment. I know that all areas of nursing have there own kind of stress and I did work as a PHN 15 years ago for a short time . I would like to get back into the field but have no recent experience . Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I would get this expericence?

You should not have much trouble getting hired into home health. Simply ask for some time to orient with an experienced RN. If they are not willing to help you out with a good orientation, you probably would want to look at the next employer. Good luck.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, Transport, L&D, Hospice.

All PHN positions are employees of the state here in AK.

Contact that department of public health and begin a dialog with them.

Given that you have some experience in the field I would imagine that you would be warmly welcomed. Perhaps you could work per diem to get your foot in the door.
