ADVICE--From ALL HHNurses

Specialties Home Health

Hi, I am going on an interview next week for Home health nurse. Currently I work in a call center doing telephone triage--and per diem in the ER. I am leaving my current full time job--doing telephone triage because I really hate being locked at a computer all day..also I am looking for a job, where I can drop and pick up my son who is 3 yaers old from school...I am a little hesitant about it though --because it sounds like charting and work continues even after you finish...I just wonder if I would be able to do this, as when my 3 yaer old son is up...I cant really do much--Thanks for any advice and input..Appreciate it very much....

I just started HH in June after 19 years in the ER, and I love it. I case manage, so there's a lot more paperwork involved for me, but I can usually get out in 8 hours. Sometimes I work over, but that's my choice. Yesterday I put in a full 12 hours without a real break (although I will claim a lunch), but I could have stopped at 8 hours and insisted on putting off the paperwork until the next day. I took today off because my youngest had a conscious sedation procedure, but I'll see the pts tomorrow that I was unable to farm out to other staff. Next week my oldest daughter has a counseling appt, so I will take the morning off to take her. Earlier this week she signed up for college classes and needed the Bank of Mom, so I was able to take a long lunch to help her out, then spend some time with her over lunch. I love the flexibility!
