A friend was telling us today at work about a ionized sea salt soak that is being done. Soaking feet in sea salt water with ionizing rods, pulling toxins from the body? Can anyone tell me what this is actually called and if you have had it done what differences are you noticing?

Im sure it depletes benefitial elements from the system too. What is your take on how it affects K+ and Na, iron, Mg and other essential element levels in the body? Any side effects? Just lookin for some info. Thanks

Did a little research on my own with a little free time tonight. Got my answers. Thanks anyway.

Could you share what you learned?

I remember going to the Hot Springs and the talk about the salts being obsorbed by the body were supposed to be good for mental health.

I was going to ask just what an ionized sea salt was, but you have answered that already. One question, are the "ionizing rods" attached to any source of electical power?

There is a long history of the use of hot soaks on the skin of the exteamities. Generally there is a positive response to moist heat that is attributed to improved circulation secondary to dilation of blood vessels. There is also a positive response to the presence of elytrolytic salts in the water, however I am unaware of much evidence that one salt solution is better than another or that the presence of rods with or with out electric current, make any difference.

I don't know what answers you got but there is definately a lot of information online. There is a lot of conflicting information online as well.

What you are talking about would be a Bionic Hydrotherapy or Detox footbath.

It works with positive and negative charged ions that pull toxins out of your body through the bottom of your feet.

Toxins are stored at many different areas of your body and sometimes, depending on which machine you are using, you can tell which areas they are pulling from according to the colors coming out into the water.

Yes, you can pull good minerals out as well. You want 48 hours in between soaks and you want to drink an electrolyte drink while soaking, plus making sure you are taking a good multi-mineral.

I know of a patient that wound up with kidney stones due to soaking 2-3 times a day.

Hope this helps.
