TCU HESI component?

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hello all,

I am a bit confused about the HESI for nursing school. So depending on which school you apply to, does the components of the HESI exam differ? For example, I am applying to TCU Accelerated program for May 14 entrance, and on their website it stated that they don't include the Physics portion.. does that mean the Physics portion won't be on the HESI that I take or will it still be there but I just don't have to take it or won't be counted?

Thanks in advance!

Also the website says..

[h=2]"TCU requires the following test sections:[/h]

  • Reading comprehension
  • Vocabulary and general knowledge
  • Grammar
  • Anatomy and Physiology (A&P)
  • Math
  • Personality Styles
  • Learning Styles

[h=2]Additional sections available if needed:[/h]

  • Biology
  • Chemisty
  • Critical Thinking

"

What does that exactly mean? That I can skip the bio, chemistry, and critical thinking portions?

thread moved for best response. Welcome to AN ! The largest on line nursing community!

Thank you! but why was it moved to HESI exit exam?

If you are taking the computerized version -- if your school doesn't require it then it will not even be tested..

Can't help if you are taking the paper version.

Thank you.

I'm not exactly sure what version i'm taking :X

I am assuming the OP is talking about taking the HESI Admission Assessment, i.e. the HESI A2 (and not the HESI exit exam.) While there may be exceptions to the rule, I feel it would be safe to say that most HESI testing is currently administered electronically via computer. The university I attend told us what sections we would be tested over and the minimum score required for admission to the nursing program before we took the test, We were only required to take the math, English, and reading sections. The minimum composite score required for admission was an 80%. The sections we were not tested over (I.e. physics) were not even included in the test. We simply were tested over those three sections alone. With minimal studying (I.e. a quick review of metric to customary conversions, fractions, decimals, ratios, basic division/multiplication etc.), I was able to make a composite score of 94%. (I actually even made a 100% on the math section). The test was much easier than anticipated. I would suggest a generalized review of the sections that will be included on your test. I found many flash cards on quizlet by searching "HESi A2". I studied the pre made flash cards I found from quizlet... And honestly studied those alone and was able to do very well. I will graduate with my BSN in May 2014. Best of luck.
