Just took the HESI Entrance Exam

Nursing Students HESI

Just took the exam and passed!!! I used the HESI Entrance Review for all sections except A & P. I actually bought a textbook and studied from it. My words of wisdom? Study at least 2 hours a day for a minimum of two weeks ( this applies to people who have been out of school for awhile).

That's great! I have been studying for the Hesi a2 (off and on) for a some time now. The school I am hoping to get into has changed their requirement; and I aiming to pass the exam on the first try. How did you find the exam? Did they allow you to use a calculator for the math portion? How did you find the math? Thanks in advance...

I used the HESI entrance exam book ( from Evolve)edition 3. I found it at Barnes and Noble for $30.00-the test was exactly like the book ( except the A & P)..I used the TEAS V as well...I was looking into a few schools so I have both guides.

Yes you can use a calculator-know fractions, conversions and ratios...

Most schools want you to pass with at least and 80% ( some schools say 70% but you may not receive an interview with anything less than an 80%).

Thanks so much for the reply. I also have the hesi study guide, but it's the 2nd edition (its still the same information). I'm currently brushing up on my math and a&p as well. Thanks so much for the info. and hope all goes well for you (and me).

I took the exam last Thursday and received 90%+ on all...I'm waiting for the interview portion for school...I might also take the TEAS V just for the heck of it at another school-

Good luck you will do fine! Just make sure you know your ratios, fractions, and conversions.

Hello Red35! You mentioned that the A&P was not identical to the exam review. Can you explain what you meant? I want to know what to expect! I am taking this wednesday and would like to know what to focus on w A&P! Thank you :)

Also, can you give a run down of what to expect with each section? Are there 20 questions? 50 questions? Multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank? Can you go back to change answers? Any tips or advice would help!

Hello!

The A & P section is not like the study guide. I used the TES study guide for A & P and I felt it prepared me. I believe there are 50 questions for each section except A & P (30). For the math, know your conversions, fractions, raiots and proportions-it's multiple choice AND fill in the blank.

A P know your hormones, systems, and what does what ( Mitosis vs. Meosis). The HESI also has a critical thinking section...it's common sense..take a deep breath and no you cannot change your answers...

Good luck!

I will be taking this test on Monday. I am so nervous because i haven't taken a math class in several years. Im in Ohio and i see that they have a Physics section in the HESI exam review book. I have been hearing and reading that some schools don't have it on the test, so i was wondering if anyone who has just taken this exam knows for sure that Physics will NOT be on the exam.. I have never taken a this class..:-( Thanks so much for any help!!
