Just took HESI A2

Nursing Students HESI

Hi all!

I just took my HESI and got an 88.5% overall. I'm a bit bummed because my goal is at least a 93%. :( got an 92% in math and reading comprehension, 84% in grammar, and 86% in vocabulary. I studied from the HESI Admission Assessment exam review which I found for the most part helpful. What did you guys find helpful when studying for grammar and vocab? This was the test for my community college and I test in 15 days for my university. Yet, my university HESI includes biology and chemistry. Any ideas or help with improving scores would be fantastic!

Thanks! :)

Congrats on passing. I'm scheduled to take the HESI on July 26. I'm using that same book to study also. My goal is a 95%- I only have to take reading and math so it shouldn't be that hard. Would you say the math portion on the test was similar to the study guide?

I just took the Hesi 2a today. Total score of 92%. The math was just like the book. Mostly multiple choice and about 5-6 type ins. I have always been terrible in math, but I was able to use the review book and grasp the concepts very easily. I got 90% on the math. Just keep doing the sample problems after each section and the big test at the end. Sometimes I wouldn't study for a few days, then I would take the test or do the sample problems cold. I wanted to see if I really remembered how to do them. My test had a lot of fractions and proportions, a few conversions (cm, inches, liters, milliliters, oz, kilogram, gram) and no Roman Numerals, but I know there are many versions. We were also allowed to use the computer calculator and scrap paper. Make sure you set your problems up and avoid doing them in your head. This way, you may avoid making simple mistakes. Good Luck and relax! I was waaaaaayyyyy more nervous than I should have been.

Admission Assessment Exam Review by HESI anyone have this book?

I do.

I agree, the math was just like the math section in the book. You really should have no trouble with it or reading comprehension. Just pay attention really and don't rush. For me, I got a bit distracted because staring at the computer screen for 3 hours was killing my eyes. Read each question carefully and check over it.

Also if anyone has any ideas or resources to improve grammar and vocab scores that would be great! :shy:

I took the HESI exam this past Saturday and my math portion was a lot similar to what you described, lots of proportions, fractions and a few conversions. I also had to take A&P, reading comp., grammar and vocabulary. On the math and A&P sections I scored a 92%.

I wasn't finish typing this message and somehow my phone sent it..... Anyhow, I scored a 94% in the reading section and 88% in the grammar section, however I failed the vocabulary section. I should've studied the vocabulary section more because I do recall seeing a lot of words from the book on the actual exam.

I wasn't finish typing this message, my phone is acting weird with the AN app today.... Anyhow in reading I scored 94% and in 88% grammar; I however failed the vocabulary section, maybe I shouldn't have left it for last because I honestly feel I didn't give it my best shot. Overall the exam was really easy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read from a previous post that you purchased Ready For The Hesi, if so, did you find it helpful when taking the AP portion of the exam? Also, you did really well...good for you.

Hi!

I took the full HESI A2 with all the Science portions on Sunday & got a 100 in both A&P and Chem & a 96 in Biology with an overall 98. My best advice is STUDY the HESI study guide from front to back, day & night & do the practice tests at the end of the book. There were a few things that were not covered in the study guide, but those questions were basically general knowledge of the subject. You may be surprised to find that the sections you took for your community college may be the exact same sections in the University version. Just a hint ;) go back & review what you had trouble with. Your HESI scores will show which areas you struggled in. For the vocabulary, go over the words in the HESI study guide, I would say that probably 50% of mine came from there, the other 50% should be familiar to you from your science classes. Best of luck to you!

Wow! You did absolutely fantastic! Congrats! I've been studying from the book for a solid while not but I guess my problem is I just keep taking breaks for like a week and that's not so good! I'm not the best test taker I think my anxiety gets to me and I always second guess myself but I'll take your advice and go bak through and retake the tests and we'll see I guess!
