Hi everyone!!! My names is vanessa i'm new to this site and group but i hope I can find someone that could help me i am need of big time help. I'm currently in san jacinto college in houston tx and i work night shift at the hospital as a patient assitant. I have been studying for the hesi non stop! but i want to know if there is anyone out there that has taken it recently and could tell me what to focus on more please! My nurses here at work most of them did not have to take it when they did their nursing :/.... i want to know what kind of questions to expect. At my school i have to take both A&P and Biology, Math, Vocab/Grammar and alson English. I am soooo nervous because my school states that if i dont pass at least one section with a 75 i will have to take the entire think again and not just that one section and of course we only get 2 chances per year. PLEASE HELP!!! :( I would really appreciate it.

If you can get this book it helped me pass.

I totally agree!! That book helped me pass. I just recently took mines on the 16th. Good luck!!

I have that book....do you know what I should be focusing on more from here? Like on the a&p and biology and so on. I did my own review on both sections from the book. Also the vocabulary I did flashcards on all the words from the book. The other section that has me worried is the grammar its been a long time since I've gone over objectives and etc. I've read some comments on other forums that it only contains questions like choose the correct word or so on.

You're lucky I had to pass with an 80. Use the book! It helped me pass! For math STUDY the conversions, add and subtract fractions, ratios and word problems. That was my mistake I sucked at it and I got an 82 when it could be been an 87 hell maybe even a 90.

For grammar, on my test it was baby easy. The book really trains your brain and it was perfect. Just read it do the practice questions for grammar you'll be fine. Reading honestly was a make or break. The passages on my test were short and insanely easy. They'll ask you "what can you infer from this passage" I suck at inferences so I study that more. If you're weak in main ideas or conclusions study that. If you're a slow reader take your time, you have four hours on the test plus the passages are only one or two paragraphs.

The book was great on vocabulary. The book covers what words you need to know however I strongly suggest you use quizlet.com or other practice books with other vocabulary words.

Anatomy I did not have to take but I heard the book covers I wouldn't say little bits but not as much information. If you've taken the class recently and have notes on it take additional time to study that as well as the book.

Here are some websites that helped me. I passed it the first time with an 85 score.

HESI Mathematics Practice Test - ProProfs Quiz

404 - Test-Guide.com

HESI A2 Practice Test - Free HESI Exam Practice Questions

Make sure you study an hour every day! Focus on the subjects you are weak in. Go to bed early! Get there at least 30 minutes before so you can do last minute studying. Eat a well breakfast. The test is 4 hours. You are allowed to take a break, and bring a snack but not near the computer. There is no order to take the test. You can choose whatever subject you want to do first. So strategize your time wisely. You will get your results automatically after you finish each subject.

Good luck!

Thank you soooo much!!! I really appreciate your help and I will take your advice and go to those links as well!! :)

U need to look over ur old A&P notes the book helps but u need more for the a&p

What I used to study(the order I am placing the sections is the order I took the actual exam):

A&P (88%) - I used the review book as mentioned above, but mostly for the practice questions. I highly recommend studystacks.com and quizlet! Those two sites were incredibly helpful for me. Good thing, the questions were basic knowledge of A&P. None were too in-depth. Bad thing, I had questions about nearly everything (tissues, systems, organs, joints, etc.). (35 questions)

Math (98%) - Conversions and ratios!!!! STUDY THE REVIEW BOOK given they provide step by step instructions on how to solve each type of problem. Let me also add, it had been 5 to 6 years since I have taken a math course. This section was a piece of cake! (55 agonizing questions)

Grammar - Very basic knowledge!! Study the review book. However, the questions were not as in depth as in the review book. There were not questions asking what the adjective or pronoun (etc.) was in a sentence, at least for me. (55 questions)

Vocab - I made flashcards of the words provided in the review book. I feel like this section was a hit or miss. The practice questions did not follow actual exam questions. Sorry, I don't know how else to help here. Either you know it or you don't. (55 questions)

Reading Comprehension - I hardly studied for this section because it tends to be one of my stronger areas. However, the absolute MAIN mistake I made was saving this section for last. Holy cow, do I regret that!? By the time I got to this section I was so antsy, lost focus, and "over it". Passages were so short and I had to re-read them multiple times because I couldn't focus anymore. I wish I would have taken this section second, after A&P!

Grammar/vocab/Reading (88%)

Overall score: 90%

I did not have to take the biology section.

Stay calm and Good Luck!

Hi I was wondering if we can go back and finish a different section if we finish with one of them before the time given.

Once you start it you have to finish it. No going back. Also, you can't go back to questions either. So no skipping questions and what not.

Thank you. I finished my Hesi today and I am so relieved that I am done.

Where did you take yours?
