Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hi guys, I am planning on applying to the Nursing Program at my college. I recently took the HESI A2 exam and I passed with a 71% (I was pretty upset, only 4 points away from a 75%) I am going to retake it in January, but I'm kind of discouraged. I've seen a lot of people saying the HESI A2 was easy. Everyone is getting high 80's and 90's and I was actually really confident I was going to pass. However, when I took the exam some things weren't even discussed in the exam book. I don't know what to do, If I don't pass this second time i'll have to wait another year before applications open again :(. Do you guys also know any other study resources I could use?

By CSCC, do you mean Columbus State Community College? If you do, please be sure to check with Health & Human Services advising because I believe if you don't pass it the 2nd time with at least a 75, you cannot apply to the nursing program at all, even after a year. I double checked the nursing page on the school website, and they are still saying that is true. See here: http://www.cscc.edu/academics/departments/nursing/PDF/Admission%20Assessment%20Info.pdf

Most exam books are going to give you an idea of the kinds of topics you'll find, but none are going to tell you everything that will be on the test. Which sections gave you the most trouble? I'd look at those and watch some youtube videos on those topics and do some online practice questions with those in mind.

Good luck.

I used the McGraw Hill booklet of practice tests. I also googled basic online quizzes for each subject, which I think really helped. If there are certain concepts you're struggling with in the science sections, Khan Academy can be a big help. Good luck!
