GOAL -- Weight Loss and healthier living

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Like many of you here, I am not happy with my weight gain.....and I have not even started the nursing program yet. I am planning on doing something about it. I have seen another post with regards to weight loss and motivation, just wanted to start another one. I will be starting a regiment immediately to hopefully drop those lbs and extend my life. If anyone is wanting/willing to join me....chime in. I am working on a spreadsheet to track weight loss/gain and lbs to go for my goal. I am happy to keep track of the information for others and could even post here if we want or by email. I can assign "new names" for everyone on the spreadsheet so it can remain a little more confidential if people have issues with having their weight information out here. I am also thinking of trying to find some sort of prize for the most significant change.

Let me know if you are interested and if there is anything else you would like to see. I am doing this with or without you, but am happy to motivate and "suffer" along with others :)

Feel free to respond here with input/suggestions/motivation.

Not gunna lie... Im a little nervous about starting school and gaining weight. I start next month and I cant help but feel a tad worried that Im going to slowly add on those lbs once my schedule gets going. Is it pretty much a known that this happens? I have read that most women gain due to eating fast food on their breaks or in between lunch at school so it creeps up...but if I am a healthy person who always packs their lunch and tries to work out a few days a week wouldnt that be okay?

I know I have NO idea what Im getting into so Id like feedback from those of you who have been through this situation. Luckily my bf is letting me quit my job and focus on school once I start.. Im thinking if anything the extra time will help me focus on school and get in better shape.. ANy thoughts?

Actually I find that when I have time on my hands (three days off work, etc) I tend to gain weight. Keeping busy (mentally and physically) is the key to weight loss for me.

Also, I have found that eating about a half a hand full of nuts (cashews are my fave!) helps stave off hunger. Pop a few in your mouth whenever you have the urge to graze and drink some water, too.

See if you can get your BF to go for a walk in the evening or the morning. Whatever time works for you both. It's always better to have a partner in crime.:lol2:

thanks whoahmelly :)

Yah usually I lose weight when Im busy but its never the RIGHT way. I forget to eat and get all stressed out..Im glad ill have a chance to do it the right way :) Ill try the nuts!

I too have the same issue with shoes and Ive found that New Balances are the best. They have a wide shoe too and that'll help. I went to walmart and they have the best portable lunch cases EVER. Ones for soup/sandwiches etc...they are all separate so you wont eat in one sitting ahha :)

Thanks for the tips! I'll definetly look into NBs :D

I actually just bought a small lunch tupperware set off of amazon (yay free shipping via prime!) that fits my vertical lunchbox. Can't wait until it comes in!

Just wondering, how is everyone losing weight? I've been a low carb-er/keto-er for a little over half a year now and I find that it works for me. Just curious about everyone else. Maybe swap quick recipes :)

Back in 2007 I weighed 106kg; I did a conversion to lbs and was horrified to see it equals 233lbs! At a "towering" 5ft 1in I was starting to look like a bath plug. By June the next year I was 66kgs, thanks to a slimming organization that focuses on addressing your underlying physical and metabolic conditions that predispose towards obesity. Unfortunately, it didn't cure my junkaholism!

Long and short is, I've regained 10kgs, not much in the overall scheme of things, but like everyone else I need the occasional boot to the butt or "congratulations, metaphoric kisses & applause" to keep me on track with my eating plan. Glad to join in with you guys!
