Breast Implants........

Nurses Stress 101

Published

I am seeking advice - either here or in a PM if you aren' t comfortable w/posting here - for any nurses who have had implants and ended up having them removed - for whatever reason and in particular anyone who did not have the implants replaced. I am facing a situation of having silicone implants removed later this month that I have had for just under 7 yrs. and I am not having them replaced. Mine are above the muscle and I plan to return to work the next day if possible. The surgeon is not going to do any "lift" as he says he prefers women wait 6-8 months then decide about that option because it takes the body about that length of time to completely heal and adjust.

I do not work where I will need to lift anyone, etc. so I'm not concerned about injuring myself. The surgeon is telling me little other than the obvious risks of surgery and that my breasts will be smaller - like I didn't realize that to begin with. Some things I read say its almost painless afterwards and other site say I will have surgical drains and pain and be out of commission for a week.

If anyone is willing to share their experience I'd appreciate it.

I had silicone put in under the muscle, very painful. One got infected and dehicsed 6 months later I had them removed and not replaced. It was easier to heal with out them then with them.

Thank you for replying ~ helped ease some of my anxiety. One of mine has ruptured. My insurance won't pay for it so this is all out of pocket for me but its necessary as in your case. Glad you feel better now.
