I'm applying for UH MEPN program for Fall 2009. Has anyone heard about the program? It's fairly new but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into...lol. I know overall, nursing school is tough but would like some feedback on the MEPN program itself.

Thanks!

Linz,

I was told they did but it doesn't show it on my page?

I'll add you :), then you should prob edit it off the site.

hey guys I was wondering for those who are excepted into the program. how much is the tuition? The UH website only lists it on a per credit basis, but I was wondering if you guys have actual numbers, because I'm not sure if the cost per credit is the same for the summer and for the first year mepn.

About 11,000 for fall and spring tuition and fees, but summer is almost as many units a fall and spring combined. I don't know the cost yet of summer- prob. about the same :S... worth it, and not as costly as I thought people said.

Remember your prices will be a little more. Try andhave some scholarships/ grants set up prior- they don't have any (so far)!

Hope this helps, good luck!!!!

Does anyone know of any students currently in the MEPN program who had a GPA lower than the minimum requirement and got accepted.

Thanks,

elmp

Elmp,

I don't know about that, as I haven't started yet (just call and ask :), however I do know that you need to meet the Grad. dept. req. as well as the MEPN dept....So I'd ask them too.

No harm in asking, and if your uncomfortable leaving your name- don't.

Good Luck!

Hi Everyone,

I know everyone that's on this discussion probably have been accepted to the MEPN program, so with that said does anyone have any advice about the application process (I am planning on applying for the UH MEPN Fall 2012).

I know that you need to meet both Graduate dept. and MEPN program requirements, but will I need to take the GRE exam? Also, my GPA is not that great (didn't do too well in undergrad and I think it might be the only thing that will hold me back), does performing well in the prerequisite courses help at all?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! J Congratulations and Good Luck to those who got accepted!

Thanks!

Aloha,

I pretty much have the same question as elmp.

I will be applying to the mepn program soon and for those of you who were accepted i'm just curious as to what your GPA's were because mine is pretty much a 3.0 and i'd like to know if they are mainly accepting people who have 3.5 or higher. I was also curious about the interview process and about how many questions and how long the interview is.

Any advice on the applicaiton process is greatly appreciated!

Mahalo!

Hi everyone! I am applying to the 2011 term. Is anyone going to the information session on October 22nd???

I am wondering what the average GPA was for the students who got in last semester. Mine is 3.75.....hopefully that is high enough to at least get an interview.

I am already nervous about the application process!

if you have a 3.0 or above you are fine. finish your prereqs and pass you'll be ok.

Does that mean anyone falling behind a 3.0 gpa their applications will not even be looked at?

I applied for last Spring ('10). I had a 3.7, strong recommendations, finished prereqs, got an interview, didn't get in. :( Think I mostly bombed the interview, which was brief (15 min?). Keep in mind, there are a LOT of people vying for not very many spots, so you have to be strong all the way around. I had all my academic & paperwork ducks in a row, but think my mistake lay in not preparing for the interview as thoroughly as one would a job interview (i.e. doing all the research, role-playing, etc). Had I to do it over, I would take those extra steps to stand above the rest of the (already-highly-qualified) crowd. Just do your best in all areas - well rounded is a great trait - and remember that 'somebody' has to get those spots, so it might as well be you - go for it! And Best of Luck to all the 2011 applicants!

Thanks everyone. It seems as though the interview is the deciding factor! I guess I better start preparing for it asap.

NMGP.....I read on the website that 3.0 gpa is the minimum.....so I am guessing that is the cutoff....but you never know.
