Hi! Is anyone else planning on applying to UH Manoa's nursing program for the spring 2015 semester? I'm currently a student at Washington State University and I want to transfer to UH Manoa. All my credits from WSU will transfer over to UH Manoa, but I don't know if I have the classes required to make me eligible for admissions since every school is different. Does anyone know what the required classes are?

Also, what would give me competitive application? Am I allowed to send both the NLN and TEAS exams?

I know at one point they weren't accredited so you might want to look into that.

You should also keep in mind that while UH tuition is a pretty good deal for in-state residents at under $10k, it's about $30k a year for out-of-state residents.

I'm a resident in Hawaii. Im am out of state student here at WSU. I just want to go home since its a lot cheaper.

If you've been doing nursing program pre-reqs at WSU then they should be transferable for the most part as the pre-reqs for the UH nursing program. They won't actually evaluate your transfer credits until after you've applied and been accepted according to their website.

Their pre-reqs (listed as year 1 and 2 classes) can be found here (2nd page).

Typically you would apply to the school first, then they would evaluate your transfer credits, that would tell you where you are at in the nursing program curriculum which may still involve being in the pre-req phase.

No. You don't need to have the NURS classes completed as part of the prerequisite. The 2nd year classes are where you will start if you are accepted in the program. I would just send your best score for either the NLN or TEAS. I only took the TEAS though since I needed it for schools in cali also. You can also have a couple prereqs in progress when you apply. I was accepted for Fall as an out of state student and I am currently taking Ochem and world history prereqs.

It is estimated about 32k a year for out of state students if you intend to live on campus. They estimate the cost based on freshman status until your transcripts are evaluated. (According to financial aid)

I have a 4.0 for prereqs, 93% individual on the TEAS but it's not just about GPA or test scores. They just want to see that you are consistently doing well and passing your classes with A's and B's

actually that's exactly what it's all about - GPA & test scores.

they use a point system.

points for pre-req gpa

points for cumulative gpa

points for teas/nln

there isn't really anything subjective about it. add up the points and whoever has the most gets in.
