  1. What was your TEAS score for KCC?

9 members have participated

Hi All,

I am curious as to what a competitive applicant has for an ATI TEAS score, GPA, prereqs. I understand the minimum TEAS was 78, but it has been temporarily lowered to 65.

Obviously, the higher the scores the better, but what does an average accepted applicant's scores look like?

What is a solid TEAS score for acceptance, do I have to score in the 90s or are scores in 70s adequate?

Do most selectees earn A's on their Zoology and MICR, or are B's competitive? Essentially, I am wondering if I should fork out additional money to retake the zoology classes to raise the B's to A's or is that an unwise use of tight funds?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Any luck Cougar68?

Hey Ellers,

How many took the test with you on the 23rd? Were there a lot of students?

Hey Rocking,

just got back from seeing Brian and the admissions people and no one could really explain why, but Brian said he could now see it under review and that admissions will send it with the enclosed transcripts. Glad I didnt wait until the last minute. Hopefully I get considered, I hear they actually will send you a letter to say they have everything and are considering it. Then another to say you did or didnt get in. KCC only will send a letter saying you dont have something and if you did or didnt get in.

I guess at this point its all up to the numbers now.

Good thing you got it cleared up. Wait, You had to do a transcript transfer request as well?

Yea, I have a masters degree that they will accept the GPA from to help boost me from 2.5 to a whopping 2.75. Every little bit helps right. that was a out of state university so the transcripts had to be sent directly to them and the first one was lost in transit, the second one sent a week ago finally made it today. But I got notice of the transcript missing via its own letter so I dont think it was related to this. We shall see

Oh I see. It's only for credits out of UH-Systems. Yes, every little bit does help. Did you just turn your UH-systems application in this week? NLN is taking forever to send me the duplicate scores...I hope they get it to me by tomorrow so I can rush it to the nursing department at Manoa.

Rockinitfreshhawaii,

The classroom was full, I would say around 10-14 students.

Also if you all go under star degree and go under the tab "what if" and scroll to the bottom right. It will show you for KCC if your application was processed. Mines says today's date with "complete/ready for review".

Good luck with UH guys! I wish I could have applied. If I don't get in to KCC I will retake my a&p 1 so I can get my A and retake both TEAS and NLN, hopefully UH will make adjustments to their requirement on the teas. I know the uh advisor said its temporary because uh wants to gauge the outcome of the results for spring 2014 applicants.

Is it October yet? Lol

10-14 huh? Well, I was trying to find the probability of getting in...haha. I know it's kinda time consuming to do it but figuring out the chances of getting accepted gives me a sort of assurance. By doing this, I guess it's bringing about more stress as well...bad move on my part.

I just checked that "What If' tab and saw that my application is ready for review as well. At least we don't have to worry about the admissions office misplacing our applications.

YES! Is it October yet? I keep coming back to this All Nurses website to read up on the different articles written by current nurses and student nurses.

You are not alone! I do the same exact thing, although, I haven't found much on KCC, it's mostly on UH and the KCC I've seen are all NLN scores so its hard to compare :-/

How many students were there when you took it? Today is the last day for anyone to turn in their apps. Since sept 1 is on a Sunday. Hopefully that 140 is not 200 by now!

It was a walk-in session so there were only 3, not including me, that I saw that had the ATI testing website up. I hope no more than 150 apply. The last ATI administered test was when you took it so I guess they were one of the last of the 140 the advisor spoke about.

There isn't much on the TEAS since it's a fairly new test that KCC is implementing. I'm relying on the pilot study of lowering of the TEAS score to increase my chances of acceptance. 56% as the mean adjusted individual score (AIS) for KCC's program is surprisingly low. Other nursing programs in the united states have scores at 65%-75% as their mean AIS.

Ellers,

thanks for that bit about STAR I never would have guessed that you could see that. At least I know one of my apps made it. The TEAS really is an enigma to me on the verbal. I dont know how my spelling got so bad, as I only scored bottom 25% on it. I think its much harder than the NLN for sure. Funny thing is if we get in we will never care about this test ever again, but for now we are obsessed with it it seems.
