Air Force question for anyone who might have been down this road recently:

How long does it take before you start seeing the sign-on bonus?

When do you get your first paycheck?

Thanks

Are you already on active duty - working?

If you are going to COT, then you will likely receive the bonus within a month of graduating. In my case it was about 3 months after I got to my duty station...everyone seemed lost when it came to my inprocessing because I had been on active duty before. If you don't see it within a month or so after COT, then let your supervisor know and he/she can help troubleshoot the delay. I called AFPC directly to find out why mine was delayed..I thankfully didn't take heat for not using my chain of command, but I could've easily gotten into some trouble. Good Luck.

my recruiter told me that the board is review apps next week. has anyone else heard this? does anyone know how long it will take to hear back if selected?

Spencer2002 this is what I'm trying to find out. My recruiter said that a SG technician is reviewing my application now so he is awaiting a reply. What is the next step after you hear back? when do you swear in or is it something you set up yourself and what about cot dates?

This is what I understand from reading the message boards about the AF on this site. You will get a call from your recruiter about your acceptance and assigned base. I think from there you will have to sign paperwork to accept the offer. Then you will to COT. I'm not sure at what point you swear in as an AF officer? Your recruiter should be given you an approximate date for COT already. My date for COT has changed about three times through this whole thing. But if everything comes back OK then I’m good to go in OCT 09. I hope this helps. Good Luck

My recruiter told me that I can pick my COT date he never assigned me one or elluded that he had to choose it. He says I get acceptance then I swear in and I have up to a year to go to COT. My packet has been at SG for a while and they just sent a week worth of blood pressure checks because at MEPS my pressure was high. It has been resolved because I never had any blood pressure issues in the past.

I’m unsure why you haven’t been given a COT date by your recruiter? I think they don’t want to give anything definite until your MEPS, background checks, and Chief Nursing interview is completed. Once your packet goes in front of the AF Board, you should know soon after. Funny thing, I had elevated B/P at MEPS as well and I play racquetball three days a week for 2-3 hours. I think I got anxious and nervous about the whole thing. There was a 20 yr old kid that was B/P 180/90 and they made him take it few times then sit down for a while and come back for a recheck. I was the oldest on there J. If your waiting on a medical or moral waiver, that can set you back a while. No one is in a rush right now. Another thing I heard was that if your recruiter has made his quota of nurses for this year, he may be waiting until after Oct to send you to COT….so he can get credit for you next year.

Soooo true....

If waivers are involved they can really, really drag out things.

They said I didn't need a waiver because thee week worth of blood pressure checks were ok. I texted my recruiter again and he said there should be an answer any day now. But any day is just that months lol.
