Hello...

I'm graduating next month and heading to Balboa...woohoo! Anyhow, I did fairly well in school and have been invited to join the stt. On the surface it looks like another $90 dinner with some recognition. Does the stt really mean anything after graduation, or is it just another another way for me to pay someone to recognize me?

I joined STTI when invited. It hasn't made any day to day difference at work; I didn't expect it to. But I do like being able to list it as a professional organization on bios or resumes. It's an honor not offered to everyone, and it's much harder to gain membership once you're out of school. If you can afford it, I'd say join. If you decide it's not worth it, you can always let your membership lapse when it's time for renewal next year. Check out the STTI website http://www.nursingsociety.org/

Congrats on graduating next month, and best of luck for the future.

I was invited when I was in school and I declined to join. They could not give me good justifications for the money they were asking for. Still, I see the main benefit of paying their dues is to be able to list it on your CV. My CV stands up well without it, but if you need it to make your CV look good, then pay the money. It seems to be just a bragging point.
