hello everyone,

got a question. when applying for the 2012 nurse corp selection boards, are all the applicants all over the country competing with eachother or do you compete with just your region? i was told there were only 22 slots and if we are competing with the whole country-OMG! waiting on an answer sucks. my recruiter has a back up plan for me if i dont get picked the first time for the med/surg but hopefully I do, and good luck to everyone else as well. talk to you all soon.

Hey Jenks,

Just to let you know, I did not get an answer until almost a week after everyone heard. I had to email my recruiter. Then she told me I was on the waitlist. A month later (beginning of April), I found out I was in. So don't get discouraged. just because you haven't heard anything yet does not mean it's a no.

Thank you... It is very discouraging! I pray tomorrow I get a "yes". My head has been a mess since Thursday when everyone was getting their answers. Lol. Thanks again for the encouragement. :)

The whole selection process is one of the most mentally challenging things I have ever experienced. When my first application was rejected, all the other apps my recruiter sent had something written on it for what to improve if a resubmission was planned. Mine was absolutely blank. No direction, recommendations, nothing. So I had no direction whatsoever. The biggest differences between this board and my last is I got married (no more child care waiver) and I renewed 4 certifications. That's it. I don't know how that made such a difference.

I have 7yrs nursing experience, all ER/Trauma with a smattering of burn, hospice and transport mixed in. I've taught EMT-B classes and have advanced trauma certifications. I also have over 500 preceptor hours that I could prove instead of just claiming and submitted all my CEU's.

My advice is what my recruiter told me: reapply as many times as it takes. His wife was one of his recruits that was a non-select (imagine having to do that!) and she was picked up for the women's health NP scholarship program. I have been working with him for the past 18mo, and whenever I needed a pep talk, he was great. So really, do whatever you can to show how much you want this and reapply your butt off.

Jenks,That's great! Now you can calm down and take a deep breath (sorry, I really don't mean that in a mean way but you just seem very anxious). I was #1 on the alternate list and got in. Basically if someone declines for any reason or cannot go for any reason you are in. Let me know if you have any more questions

Hi guys..bad news for me :(

I just got an email from my recruiter saying that I was a non-select. I'm going to call her of possible reasons why I didn't get chosen. Any words of advice or encouragement? My feelings of hopes went down........ :'(

This might be a dumb question but what is the selection board? I am getting a direct commission as a flight nurse. I have passed meps and my interview. I just did my flying class physical. I should do my oath in about three weeks. I asked my recruiter if I am going to have to go before a selection board and he says no.., does the selection board apply to my situation? Why or why not? I have so little information and like most of you the waiting is killing me!!! Any advice/info???

I just found out I am #2 alternate for critical care nursing. Hopefully after waiting for over two years and coming before 4 boards this will be the time. Just need two people to drop out (that sounds bad).

thanks jenks7 for hearing me out.

My question is, does any one know about re-submitting applications for those who were non-selected or anyone that has ever gone through it?

I need help....

I also want to add some of my general nursing background information to have an idea:

-graduated in 2010 with my BSN degree

-passed NCLEX Sept 8, 2010

-Currently working for 1yr and 7months as a Med-Surg Nurse full-time

-no prior military service

...this is basically what my background is trying to apply for the FQ boards as an AF Active Duty nurse

I was a non-select so I was not sure what could of factored in the decision of me not being chosen.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas/reasons why you think I wasn't selected. Could it be not having enough experience?

Any opinions/comments would help....

Thanks.
