Hey everyone I have a quick question. I came in with nursing exp. prior to coming into the AF so my DOR is 28 Jan 06; that means I should be pinning on the silver bar soon right? How exactly does it work. when that day comes, am I automatically a 1st Lt or is there some process I have to go through before I can officially do that?

You should have gotten a couple of emails by this point telling you when your pin on date is. I would get on AF portal and see if it says anything about when you should promote/promotion date, if it doesn't email your chief nurse and have him/her look into it for you. Basically you should promote two years from DOR for 2Lt and then two more yrs from 1Lt to Capt. Since it is all automatic for the 1st two ranks anymore in the AF it should be exactly two years to the day.

P.S. Congratulations! :balloons:

That is a nice little pay raise. It really starts making a difference when you make Capt( and it is good thing since it is taking about 14yrs+ for AF nurses to pin on Maj....)!

I don't know if you are active or reserve but you can go to AFPC or AFRPC and click on 'promotions' and they have lists by name of those promoted to 1LT(as well as all other ranks) during the first half of fiscal '08 (Oct.-Mar.)which should include you. It also indicates pin-on date, etc.

I like that site--it's a nice way to keep track of classmates, friends, etc. that you haven't seen in a while. I had an old friend promoted WAY above the zone and I just happened to catch it there. Neat surprise.

Miss Mab--looking forward to seeing her name in the next list out in March. I THINK I pin on in September.....

CONGRATS!

thank you all, I am excited about it. the extra money doesn't hurt either.
